Seriously, no body knows the answer, with the success of the current RS something would I guess be likely. Another train of thought is that with the success of the Fabia RS the new Octy Rs may be a 200 bhp Diesel

As for the 4x4 I HOPE SO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As at Tuesday this week no decision has yet been made, although very strongly rumoured to have Golf R32 engine and transmission if it does get built.

However, 4x4 hatch and estate variants will be available in the new car.

I've said it before, but it bears saying again. The vRS doesn't really sit well with Uncle VW's view of what Skoda ought to be. The vRS models are for WRC homologation purposes, and with the advent of the Fabia vRS, there's no need for an Octavia vRS.

I'd be surprised to see an Octavia vRS in the new model lineup, and even if I am proved wrong, I would be willing to bet that it will be front drive and will have a fairly weedy engine compared to other VAG products. Diesel is a distinct possibility, and while I'm well aware of the benefits of diesel engines, I prefer the dynamics of petrol engines.

If I were designing the next gen Octavia vRS it would certainly have four wheel drive and a 2.0 FSI Turbo, generating somewhere around 250 BHP. Black Recaro seats and charcoal carpets would be in, all for about

My nark tells me that the vRS will stay this current shape for next 2 years (end 2005) then, nobody knows whether it's a face lift or not. Helps the residuals for us at present. Who knows may be a classic like the early Cossie's??

if they go down that route then the current one will be my last RS...the R32 may be a great engine but the 1.8T means the emissions and therefore the company car tax is not tooooo painful and there are a lot of us that buy them with company money who will go elsewhere.

But if they do go for a 200(+) bhp diesel with euro4 emissions it could be a winner - vw racing can easily get 250+ from the TDi just think.....250 bhp with 50mpg :thumbup:

and how about variable drive like the skyline??come on lets wish for the best,you never know!

This is what a few Dutch car-magazine editors told us:

3. 200 hp from the 2.0T FSI (so not a 180 hp 2.0 TDI)

4. yes, but will probably have atmo 150 hp 2.0 FSI to replace 150 hp 1.8T, and developed again for specific alpine purposes, so without the turbo no chance to convert it into something sporty

... I'd also go with that being 99% certain

So in 2006 it's either:

- swap the 4x4 in favour of, say, a Volvo S40 T5 AWD

Or:

- buy the 4x4 back from the company and give it to the Mrs, and get a vRS as the new company car (preferably a Fabia 1.8T vRS if that were to be launched... :D )

- same thing but something non-Skoda instead, like a Civic Type-R or something of the kind
