Just fitted my forge 007 DV

Featured Replies

Well I was expecting it to be an easy job, I was sadly mistaken. Taking tips from members on here i set to lube the hoses with fairy liquid where the clips are, however it was impossible to get under the clips let alone try and slide them off.

The clips are not aluminium but pressed steel, it was a total ballache trying to get these off, eventually with some grips I managed to pull them off for the best part of half an hour, after fitting the dv as close as possible to the intake pipe the engine cover didnt fit on comfortably. I would definately reccomend getting the 007's with the adapter for clearance.

So i started her up and reved it, there was hardly any whooossshh. :(

I took the car for a spin and it definately felt more responsive, it sounds the same as a stock dv if not quieter. Colin's hyperboost DV sounds much much louder than the forge. I believe the DV sound will get louder when a CAI is fitted, is this true, if so how much louder?

The dv wont get louder Day Tripper - it's just that the sound is currently being muffled by the factory airbox. If you fitted a CAI - the dv will still make the same noise - but that noise will be 'released' as it is less muffled.

If that makes any sense at all! :)

Got mine today, fitted it in 15 mins. Piece of cake to fit ;)

Used tin snips on the 2 large crimp clamps, left the smaller one intact to re-use.

Car feels a lot more responsive (wondering if my old one was knackered  )

Money well spent :D

took about 20mins to fit mine.

same opinion as Geoff

I thought the idea of the washing up liquid was to help fit the hoses, with clips on, back onto the new DV........not take the clips off???

I thought that was the "easy" way of removing them, i was thinking how the hell are you supposed to get them off with washing up liquid, doh!

I also tried tin snips but they didnt cut.

Little knowledge is dangerous knowledge!

BANG!

Reverse the mother if more 'whoosh' is your thing.

Geoff, don't bin that OE DV mind. Might be knocking on your door shortly to 'borrow' it ;)

Geoff' date=' don't bin that OE DV mind. Might be knocking on your door shortly to 'borrow' it ;)[/quote']

Might reverse it at the weekend, just out of interest you understand ;)

The old DV is in my toolbox in the back of the car, just let me know if you want it ;)

I also have an "old" stock DV if anybody is in need - only about 5k miles on it.

I found the forge to be the least noisy of the three i have tried. Hyperboost was only slightly louder than the forge but the bailey was by far the loudest.

I have tried all three in reverse but they were all very quiet which i found odd as every one said they are more noisy when used in reverse

Same here, but about 45K on it :D

Mike your more than welcome to have a listen to mine if we're meeting up in the next few weeks.

someone put a link up that i found useful where a guy had written a massive article about DV and recirc valves.

He tested the most popular types and recorded how they held boost and which way round they worked best.

By all accounts the bailey worked best when fitted in the normal way but IIRC the forge was better in reverse.

I have the Bailey and it is mych louder than the standard unit, the car feels better with it to, much more eager to pull after changing gear lower down the rev range.

That link is in our links section Nigel - http://dv.mistertam.com and he does indeed recommend installing the Forge reversed.
