what bodge tool can I use to remove stereo

Featured Replies

2003 stereo unit and yes have tried searching 22000 Octavia threads with "stereo removal".

Is it a key thing or just a push an object in. :)

Isn't there a couple of slots about 1mm wide and around 10mm high on each side? I know pioneer radio keys also work on Skoda units. A couple of nail files might be thin/long enough to go down the 2 slots. Not sure though really.

spark plug feeler blades will do the trick if the stereo is the standard Skoda unit.

Kenwood release keys worked for me - I've also heard of people using a hacksaw blade cut in 2 peices but haven't tried it myself.

junior hacsaw blade snapped in half should fit

Strips cut out of an ice cream tub or a junior hack saw blade cut in two will do the trick.

Nah - you just shove it in until you hear/feel a good solid CLUNK. That's the clip being removed from the cage/dash. Needs to be around 6"+ in length as it goes back a fair ways. Hopefully once it CLUNKS on each side it should be easy to grip it at the top and bottom and just wiggle it out.

Or you could save yourself the trouble and just pay the quid or so for a pair of release keys from Halfords
