Knackered bolt hole thread trying stutter fix.

Featured Replies

Typical. I mean how hard can it be to remove and then replace 2 bolts? I've managed to knacker the thread on the hole putting the bolt back in. No way was it going in. It would turn so far then stop. So I thought 'if I can just get past this stiff bit.......'. You know the rest!

Anyway, will an ordinary nut and bolt be ok in its place? Or does the existing bolt form a seal?

Help!

the gas seal is formed by the "bump" in the metal gasket, I think.

correct , and if you can get a nut and bolt on the pipe that should be ok , if not ideal

Drama over! Uncle advised me to thread bolt in from other side to 'repair' the thread. It worked andd bolt now in.

And I can confirm that the stutter has completely gone now (50 miles later).

Thanks all
