2.0 PD DSG 5000 miles

LIKES so far

I'm very glad I got the DSG - used it manually and in sport a lot for the first 4500 miles to give it some stick. Hasn't really used any oil rather surprisingly. Discovered that if you use it manually from start, it changes up at the red line 4500 rpm. Well that's fine by me; its run out of power and doesn't suddenly (alarmingly) drop off power at the red line like the old 320d did. Its also surprisingly swift.

Better seats than the BM and thank goodness the wife likes them (hated the BM's).

Stream much better than expected. It probably isn't as good as the BM's but hey I can live with it and its much more versatile.

Plenty of room in the back seats and boot for dogs. Like the under boot floor for coats, my collapsible ladder etc. Lots of oddments space but come on the "jumbo box"; I'm still chuckling. Dormouse box more like.

I even like the fact that it has a full size alloy spare - probably never use it: this is a company car! But its there (unlike the frightful space saver in the BM and none in the current model).

The colour I chose (metallic cappucino beige metallic - who thought that up?) turns out, as I suspected, to look both smart and completely fail to show the dirt. Its quite difficult to wash because you can't easily see where you've sponged! The alloys give the game away though - they look miles better when clean.

Puddle lights - so simple.

DISLIKES

The buzziness when pulling away. From the exhaust? a heat shield? the trim?

The staining of the top of the bumper beneath the tailgate because it drains back towards the car. Maddening. Also, the black plastic is going white already. Is there a Skoda plastic/metal trim I could put over it does anyone know?

Auto wipers. Just not good enough. OK when its definitely raining. Not when it isn't. Sometimes not sensitive enough; other times too sensitive. Aargh. (Glad I haven't got auto lights - now they really would send me mad I should think).

That's it!

the dill.

Nice little write up, good to hear you like the dsg box as I have an elegance DSG on order (unfortunately) to replace my vRS (a different story).

Excellent news about the colour not showing the dirt, I bought the same colour, different model.
