octy vRS/ 1.8 T RS confusion

Featured Replies

hello, i'm new here and looking to buy an '04 octavia vRS. up until a few minutes ago i had assumed all mkI RS / vRS models had pretty much the same engine spec, 1.8T, 180bhp. however having had a look at the model list here:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/reference-materials/octavia-1u-model-overview/78873/

i'm now a little confused . are there 150bhp RS's out there? if so, are they identifiable only by vin? any help or guidance would be much appreciated!

p.s. if this post should be in a different section, whack it elsewhere.

cheers!

i'm sure some one will correct me if i'm wrong but i think the 150bhp vRS is supplied to countrys with poorer grade fuels (ie India) dont think it was ever sold in the uk (i'm assuming your from the uk)

Yeah all UK spec cars with be 180bhp.

I'm not sure what that list is - it refers to something called a "1U Octavia". I've posted a question in the thread asking the author what that means.

All Mk 1 Octavia VRSs were 180bhp in the UK. I think Mk2s are actually 200bhp, but not sure on that.

cool, thanks for that. i'm not quite in the uk, i'm a skip across the pond to ireland(dublin). the car i'm looking at was imported from the uk so shouldn't be an issue i guess!

@ncarring. yeah there's loads there. it looks to me like a list of all models produced (anywhere) and their associated codes.

Greetings from the same side of the pond!

AFAIK VagCom refers to the Mk1 Octavia as "Octavia 1U", but I don't have VaggCom on my work PC.

1U is the Mk1 Octavia

1Z is the Mk2 Octavia

Its the ident on the chassis number identifiying model.
