Pre Vrs???

Featured Replies

I have a octty 1.8 slxi turbo on an x plate, full leather air con and electrics. I have been informed by an unreliable source that this is the pre vrs car and therefore could be remapped as such.

What advantages are there to a remap, how much is i gonna cost and where near basingstoke does it?

Plent of info on here mate.

remapping will be no problem, but because you have a pre-facelift car then IIRC the throttle is cable operated rather than DBW. Non DBW cars can be remapped to good gains, but not as good as the DBW ones. The reason for this is that some sensors are not present on the cable operated system.

It can indeed be remapped , but it's the older version of the 150bhp 1.8T engine so it will only reach about 190bhp without other modifications. The later ones with drive-by-wire ECUs can get another 30bhp on top of that

they also don't have VVT which makes them a bit more thirsty and have a little less power :)

Got Angel to come out to Boringstoke and do mine. Give them a call and check they do your pre face lift car.

Nick (ncarring) had such a model a couple of years back or so. IIRC, he had a Jabba remap which gave reasonable gains. Have a look at Jabba's website for cable operated throttle 150bhp engines and see what sort of gains they claim!
