Fabia Diesel Numberplate

Doesn't matter - it's how cool it looks now!

Do personalised plates look cool? They usually have the opposite affect when I see them!

The one I'm waiting for is MAR 107 T, even if it does have an R missing from my surname.

Do you know whether it was ever issued at the time when this style of number plate was around? It will not be re-issued if it has previously been on a car.

There is a suffix style plate I'm interested in. I emailed the DVLA to ask whether it had been on a car before, and if not to ask when it may come up for auction. They confirmed it was un-issued and said (presumably because of my interest) that it would now be considered for a future auction. However, there is a 12 - 18 month waiting list.

So although it doesn't say so in as many words on the DVLA website, it appears that if there is an old suffix style plate you want, it is a good idea to confirm it was never issued and see if they will put it in a future auction. Don't just sit there waiting and hoping!

FAB 19D might be worth it. :)

D 19 VRS is available for

The plates that are on the DVLA website... do they all go to auction or can you buy some outright if they are availiable?

Chris

I once saw a big fat Beamer (5 or 7 series) on the M60 with the number plate M1NGE, it made me laugh!

Do you think that if I got J88 VRS and kept it for a few years (as I plan to keep my VRS for 5-6 years) that it might be worth more as more people born in 1988 might come to own them? I don't really want to lose a lot of money on it.... gaining is a bonus

Afternoon all,

When it comes to private plates you are either a fan or you consider them ostentatious and a total waste of money. There seems to be no middle ground.

I am definately the former and work as a driver trainer. I bought M5PSL from DVLA, when it was released in July 1994. I paid

If I were to buy a "...VRS" plate (or any other), and put it on my car, would I still be the owner of the SM07... plate that was on the car when I bought it ?

Yes, it stays there in limbo waiting to be transferred back to the car if you move your reg on again IIRC

Evening all,

Scooby Chris is correct. But 'IPSGA' doesn't have the same ring about it does it?

90% of Briskodians will not have a clue what we are talking about. I will leave it to Scooby Chris to explain.

Wet Kipper. I agree with Bigw2069. I have three vehicles on private plates (I told you I was a fan). And so far, have always got the previous registration number back on transfer.

But DVLA will not guarantee this and, in my experience, will make you feel that you are doing something slightly illegal when you apply for a transfer.

Even though they are making a hefty profit out of us private plate fans (or nuts?)!

A serious point, which hasn't been mentioned is that, as I understand it, if the car is stolen and not recovered, you loose the ownership to the registration plate. And if the car is written off you will have to buy it back, repair it and put it back on the road before you can transfer the plate.

Good fun isn't it!
