Best Panel Filter for vRS - Advice!

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have just ordered a PD160 Trumpet and Hose and want a new filter to compliment them.

I have looked into things and Green, K&N and Pipercross do the filters but its just which one to get?

They all seem to be around the

Imhe they're all much of a muchness and not really going to make any difference compared to a clean paper filter. The Green filter doesn't fit the air box as snuggly as the other two.

Hey steve.

I fitted pipercross when I had the standard intake and can't say I noticed a difference. The intake made a noticable difference mind you. The panel filter does make it sound a little bit raspier however.

I like the Green Cotton product.

The one reservation I have about cotton filters such as k&n is that when they have been cleaned a couple of times their level of filtration can drop significantly.

I have a pipercross and have no problems, fits really well, doesnt need any oiling and can be cleaned with soap and water in mins, just leave to fry overnight then place back in thecar, good as new

So if I just fit the PD160 and keep the OE filter will that be just the same as adding the Pipercross?

I'm going to get it remapped at some point but dont want to waste

So long as the paper filter is clean (and replaced ahead of the Skoda schedule, say every 10k). The real advantage of a washable filter is that if you do big mileages it can work out more financially economical, although I know some have concerns about cotton filters after a few washes.

I found that with the pipercross filter, the engine seems to rev more freely.

Put your hand in your pocket and get one lol.

My Green one has just rusted and fallen to bits(serviced regularly) and fitted in like Victoria Beckham at weigh****chers.

I picked up a Jetex one and it fits very snugly, cant say anything about the longevity as its only 100 miles old though.

Where did you get the Jetex one from and for how much?

Looks like its between the Pipercross and Jetex if the Green falls to bits!!

That's terrible. Glad I didn't go green.

If you can't find a Jetex filter, then look for JR - they're the same... but why not just get a Pipercross one :)
