What the best Fabia?

If I can just about make it financially to an Octavia should I go for it.

Ive heard some Fabias drink juice is all

They are the same engine.

Fabia will be quicker due to less weight but not built as well.

Depends if you're after toys and practicality or small and economical. The diesel Fabias will be more economical than the diesel Octy's because they're smaller and lighter.....

MkI or MkII Fabia? MkI or MkII Octy?

What makes a car 'best'? Performance, economy, cheapness?

Personally I think the MkI Fabia vRS is hard to beat, though you may struggle to get one new and it's obviously smaller, less comfortable etc.

The Octy 1.9TDi is also a very good car, though the newer 2.0 TDi has somewhat superseded it. Both perform more than adequately.

Personally, I'd avoid any petrol Fabia and any naturally aspirated petrol Octy, but again, that's just my personal opinion.

I always recommend going and having a look at both, seeing which you prefer & making your decision based on that. Don't let other peoples' opinions prejudice your decision - buy what YOU like

What budget do you have to spend?

If you have a youngish family the Fabia can work out a bit tight on space, the Octavia has loads of space and the mpg is hardly any different for like engined cars,

Get to a friendly garage and have a good test drive in both

The octavia has a massive boot, big enough to sleep in if you don't want to pay for a hotel room and the Fabia is a lot more compact but still has a fair bit of space for its size and good build quality, The new Octavia is like a Rolls Royse compared to a French car of the same size.
