Vag-com

Featured Replies

I'm after a bit of advice on what I need to get VAG-COM working..

It looks like you can buy a cable which has some sort of 'hardlock' or 'Dongle' integrated to make the software work but it also looks like you can download a 'free' version that works with generic cables.

I have got a Bluetooth ODBCII connector that supports all protocols i.e CAN bus, KWP2000 Fords PWM. it states supports VW/Audi etc. Any ideas if the free version work with this?

Obviously there must be some benefit to buying the full version all I want to do is enable the Bluetooth telephone kit for the moment. :D

I'm not 100% sure but I think you'll need the registered version. You'll need the long coding helper etc which is not in the earlier trial versions.

The registration is built into the cable.

It that is all you want Tim then you'd be better to find a helpful member to do it for you.

Cheers Stu, If thats the case seeing as I am a card carrying geek and a control system engineer, I think it's going to be a necessity that I get the full version and do some tinkering/damage....

The pricing is better at the moment with the current $/

Even though I assume you do have read our FAQ I'll link the corresponding sections below...

If you do want to work on the Octavia II (1Z) with VAG-COM there is no legal way around our own interface hardware. VAG-COM does NOT support any CAN capable 3rd party hardware. Even though your existing "connector" supports VW/Audi this only means older models without diagnostics via CAN.

Hope this answers your questions, if not you may want to elaborate where you are having addional questions.
