Skoda Number Plate Surrounds from Dubmeister.

Featured Replies

I've had a reply from Dubmeister to say they now have a design for a Skoda Prague number plate surround. See attached picture below.

Only thing is, Paul at Dubmeister says, "Skoda Prague Central surround won't be made unless we get a good reaction from you guys!" (at Briskoda)

So if anyone wants these, I would ask that you contact Paul at Dubmeister and log your interest, either by email at [email protected], or by phone 01275 851069.

No prices have been mentioned as yet, but the VW ones they do all seem to be a tenner each.

Hope this helps you guys who missed out for the Mlada Boleslav surrounds that were available a while back.

(Please Note: I am not acting as administrator for these surrounds, I simply asked a question of Dubmeister, and I am making their response known for the benefit for all, thanks).

Depending on how authentic you wanted to be it would be something like Praha Centrum instead of Prague Central.

Would you be able to get a photo of a couple of genuine Czech numberplate surrounds to help them make something authentic looking?

I guess that

Listen fellas. I'm really not suggesting that these surrounds from Dubmeister are perfect, just that if someone wants some Skoda surrounds, then these are an option that I have been made aware of.

I wanted the 'proper' Czech ones myself, but as no-one could supply them in the UK, I went round the houses, thought outside the box a little, and hey presto, I sorted my own! (picture attached).

So, if you want some surrounds that you can simply buy and fit, (as long as there is enough demand), then contact Dubmeister. Or, if like me you want surrounds that are as close to original ones as makes no difference, (too me anyway), then simply source some blank 'lipped' surrounds, print off a picture of Baker21's Superb for reference, (or Quinten's picture from above if you like), then find a local print shop who does laser cut vinyl stickers, and have the text printed as I've done. Then simply scotch your surrounds to 'key' them, apply the stickers, and finish off with a couple of coats of clear lacqeur, simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So there you have it, but I'd question how many people could be @rsed to do what I've done, probably a few, but some might just want to buy them 'off the peg' from Dubmeister. Don't forget, I'm sure it would be possible to amend the Skoda Prague Central text, so if it offends anyone that much, contact Dubmeister and ask!

I bought them in Mlada last week.

I have been practising removing the screen print with nail varnish remover which seems to work ok.

I certainly wasn't saying that anyone was better than another just that if you want them to look realistic then the dubmeister ones were not correct.

I have actually already been in contact with the makers of the ones I bought and am awaiting a reply from them.

No problem Stu. I just thought I might be doing somebody a favour. (I'm sure not everyone is as anal as I am when it comes to little details, lol). Those surrounds you have look good, (once the nasty text has been removed).

Do your plates just sit in them, or do they clip into position? They would look nice on mine actually, once I'd got some new Mlada Boleslav stickers to put along the bottom.

What woud you want for a pair of them? Cheers

:D

So if anyone wants these, I would ask that you contact Paul at Dubmeister and log your interest

I thought we were all supposed to be registering our interest months ago when the thread on these was first done?

I emailed him then, haven't heard anything since.

I bet Chrissies well pleased knowing that, or is your own????;)

The problem seems to be that he needs considerable interest to make it worth him doing it. (so if you've not heard anymore about it, my guess would be that you were in a minority when you emailed him previously).

He tells me he has to order a batch of 200 units! So I fully understand that he won't bother if about 10 people want them.

:(

He also tells me that the VW, Audi and Seat guys prefer a generic plate surround, rather than a garage/factory specific one, or at least that's what his sales figures prove. So again, he's unlikely to want to stock 200 surrounds with a single garage name and number when his sales figures show that is not what people want!

At the end of the day, and for the last time, this was brought to my attention and I just thought, (like you do!), that somebody might like/want them. They are not my cup of tea personally, but you do what you can to try and help out the majority.

Yes, and thanks again, and its still on the back of the car..

As is mine :D:thumbup:

Cheers Gerry
