Well I am the new owner of an LXi 1.6 but I have a few Q's?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Well the Felicia has gone and now I am the owner of an Octavia LXi 1.6, but I have a few questions...

Firstly where is the vin plate on this car? Or doesn't it have one? I only ask as there is a small window in the windscreen which has nothing in it I assume this is where its meant to be? Skoda mention its near some Plenum chamber but where the hell is that?

Secondly as its an LXi its only got front speakers, so how hard it is to fit rear ones?

TIA

Craig

I would think you ought to have the tally visible from the dash. It is also stamped into the chassis around the suspension turrett.

Hmmm, I've found stickers on the car that correspond with the correct VIN number just not found a 'plate' and the little window in the bottom of the windscreen being empty worried me a little.

I've noticed like a black 'plate' attached to the right suspension strut mounting is this what I am looking for?

that little window sounds like the place (passenger side, under the wiper), thats where my vin is although it nearly got broke off when my windscreen was replaced.

The plenum chamber covers are the plastic bits at the base of the windscreen on the outside, they have the washer jets mounted in them and the wipers stick through them. So Skoda saying that the VIN plate is close to the plenum chamber covers is a pretty good description should definatly be through that little window in the bottom of your windscreen.

As for speakers I would imagine that the parcel shelf surrounds are the same across models (they take 5" standard fitment speakers in the saloon) you would just need to check if the wires are there (probably not).

Thanks for that, as for the window in the windscreen there is nothing there.

Should I be worried???

As for the speakers there is space for next to the parcel shelf I've noticed, do anything other than Skoda units fit in or can I fit any?
