If you talking about an induction kit which is clearly seen when the bonnet is up then yes you need to let your insurance copmany know.

pd160 intake is as good as a standard part so I wouldn't bother declaring that. You don't declare when you change tyres from the factory fitted Michelins (or whatever they are) or if you use BP diesel one week and Shell diesel another.

Panel filters should be the same IMO - they're an OE replacement and just because they use a different filtration medium, it shouldn't warrant notifying the insurance company.

You can get replacement paper filters from a backstreet motor factors which are made to less exacting standards, yet these don't get declared.

Modifications should be notified, but techincally what you've fitted isn't a modification.

They might just find their way under the bonet then

Remember - you've fitted a lifetime panel filter, one that can be cleaned and reused instead of the paper one which has to be discarded every 10k or so.

If your insurance company is increasing your premium because you are trying to lower your carbon footprint by fitting a reusable filter then I'm sure the newspapers would be interested in that :P
