Welcome to Briskoda,

Have a read through and pick up some tips.

Hello - and welcome to the forum.

Just found a thread with the results of cleaning another blue Fabia 1.4 Comfort - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/styling-car-care/full-morning-cleaning-results-inside/80500/. Dmac1969 has done a great job on his seven and a half year old car.

For general cleaning advice, the guides on Polished Bliss - Specialist Vehicle Detailing - Services, Products and Advice are very useful.

More specialist advice is available on A world for detailers..., but it can be a bit overwhelming at first.

If you read through some of the threads in this Styling and Car Care section, you will see lots of recommendations for cleaning products. Meguiars are a good starting point and are available at most Halfords branches - they go on 3 for 2 every now and then so stock up next time they have that offer on.

Important things are to use the "two-bucket wash method" with a decent microfibre or lambswool wash mitt so that you don't make your car any worse than it is now. Do not use a sponge and Fairy Liquid, and stay away from car washes.

Polishing very much depends on the state of your paintwork - you might need to find someone with a "Porter Cable" polishing machine if it is badly swirled.

For a final wax (again read the Polished Bliss guides to understand the difference between polish and wax) I recommend Collinte 476 which is available online from Clean Your Car - car care products UK or www.elitecarcare amongst others. It will help protect your car over the winter, and gives months of "beading".

I did an 8hr clean of my car (with kind assistance from Wardy) earlier this summer - have a look at http://www.briskoda.net/forums/styling-car-care/detailing-pc-session/82197/ for details and photographs of some of the items mentioned above.

Hey andy , thanks for the mention! :)

The products I use are Meguiars NXT generation shampoo , and then I give it a coat of Meguires Gold Class liquid wax - sometimes I use AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection before the wax. On tyres i use Meguiars High Gloss endurance tyre gel ,on plastic trim I use Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber care (also used on the interior plastics) , and for the windows I use Autoglym Glass Polish. Make sure you give the car a good rinse before you start to wash it , then use the 2 bucket method as described earlier in the thread. You will be amazed in the difference in the look of your car if you keep on top of keeping it clean - its also much easier to wash once you have a few layers of wax on there!! Everything listed above is availible at Halfords , BTW.

PS welcome to Briskoda , enjoy your Fabia , and good luck with the test!
