What Should I Look Out For?!?!?!?!?

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for a mk1 Octy vRS and I'm wondering what I should be looking out for when viewing possibilities??

I'm likely to be looking at high(ish) mileage 2001/2 examples so i'm not expecting to find a 'minter' but i can't afford any nasty surprises!!

My wife's Furby vRS has been excellent so far and i'm looking forward to having my own Skoda so any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks   !!

look out for ex cop cars. they are probs best bet as they are well maintained.

if you do opt for one look out for holes in roof, boot and cuts on the fascia and dash.

i got my ex cop car a month ago on 57k on 02 plate and have had a grin whilst driving it around ever since.

make sure you do a check on the audio too as im sure im missing an amp somewhere as the reception is poor at best.

Nice idea, hadn't thought of that!!

Whats your budget?

Mke sure you check for history of cambelt and water pump changes as these are pretty expensive to do and even more expensive if it busts!

If an aftermarket headunit has been fitted then it probably won't be supply power to the amp in the base of the aerial on the roof, you can get a power injector to resolve this. If you still have the original headunit then maybe the amp in the base of the aerial has failed instead. The power is supplied up the middle core of the aerial cable.

Budget's only going to be

the 1.8 4x4 is supposedly a better base for mods as the power train can handle the extra power your putting down much easier. depends on if your insurance are remap friendly or not.
