Fabia Turbo Blown Warranty or Not

Featured Replies

I have a 56 plate Fabia Vrs, the RAC guy told me the turbo has blown. The car has 25k and it and it is 1 year and 2 days old. Will this be covered by the warranty. It went to the dealer today and they told me it might be the way have driven the car and might not be covered by warranty.

Has anyone else had a similiar experience what is the crack.

Help please

Rubbish, of course it will be covered providing you haven't modified the car. How can they blame it on the way you drive. Tell them you never take it over 70 and drive like a granny.

Where do you live? Name and shame - really annoys me when dealers try and put blame on the customer when it comes to warranty work!

Yeah you should be covered ok. Also need to ensure that they check the intercooler and exhaust, replacing parts as necessary.

Speaking as someone who has had a blown turbo, you should be getting this done under the warranty provided there has been no remap or it hasn't run out of oil

It's not uncommon on the pd130 for any vehicle it's fitted to, sometimes they get oil starved and eat their own bearings which then causes the impeller to disintegrate and throw lumps down the intercooler. This means you get a new intercooler as well.

If you have to pay for it, it's the wrong side of £1500 for the dealer to do it.

Hi,

My car blew it's turbo at 80k miles and 1.5 years old.

Replaced under warranty. Over here in Belgium, the VW group is replacing all the PD130 turbo's under warranty, even after 2 years and silly miles....

And because it was warranty they also replaced the cat and I got a new intercooler :D .

Then they measured the turbo pressure and noticed it was mapped  .

They laughed at the results and let me off the hook, after taking it out for a test drive which impressed them  .

Only downside was the price of the 80k service....

Car now drives more smoothly than before :D .

Hope you can get yours sorted under warranty though.

So after a remap and 80k in 1.5 years they still honour the warranty?

Belgium does have something going for it after all!

I think they realised it after they finished the work :)

Do you have the option to rebuild the turbo? Here it costs 250 euros so it's much better than buying a new one.

if I had to pay for it, I would upgrade.

I had some good news today it will be covered by skoda warranty. There going to replace the turbo, intercooler and the cat. There was a defective seal in the turbo. Bad news is the parts are on back order and it will be 3 weeks.

Thanks for your responses on help

Good news :)
