The nights are drawing in - time for a light bulb thread...

Featured Replies

Thanks Chris

Definitely was not there before I fitted the x-tremes. The car had an immaculate clean before it’s first service on Sept 10th. It was then parked up for a week as I was on holiday.

The bulbs were fitted when I got back on 28th Sept, and again I would have noticed something on the lens.

If it is contamination, then it is probably going to be impossible to clean the inside?

And contamination on both units, only in the area where the dipped beam shines through the lens?

But then out of all the octy owners who have fitted these bulbs why have I apparently been the only one with a problem? Weird.

Have written to Philips today, and await a reply.

As an aside what do you mean by MR2 Projectors. My ignorance as I associate MR2 with Toyota!

Check the bottom line of his sig. ;)

In response to phillips extreme 80%'ers Osram now have the Osram Night Breakers .... 90% more...

Can be had on ebay, may take a while to appear in shops..

I'd have to have the "Night Breakers" just because they are called "Night Breakers"

  • 2 weeks later...

this thread is confusing.... I don't know anything about bulbs so I don't know if you are talking about xenons or standard bulbs.

It is perhaps the darkest morning yet and my offside main headlight bulb went this monring (a warning, how novel!)... do I just get one from the dealer or are these others better, philips or whatever!

I was talking about standard headlights, you'd fit an HID kit to standard headlights to give them a xenon look, I don't know about changing orignal xenon headlamp bulbs or if you would need to.

BTW I'd avoid those 'monrings' in future if they damage your bulbs :P

I used to have some PIAA's in my Volvo, they seemed to be quite good, have these phillips 80% bulbs taken over as the bogs danglies now.
