Winter preparation

Featured Replies

Starting Friday night till I ran out of light i washed the car with autoglym after using a jetwash to remove as much as possible (and seeing the wax that was already on the car was doing a good job).

Saturday I got up early before the sun had chance to shine, dried the car again from the condensation that had formed before going over the car firstly with AG Resin, carefully working over the scratch on the o/s the scratch i had all down the n/s that i worked on last month (or was it the month before) seems to have disappeared:D so no complaining about that, just hoping the o/s one (which is deeper could be worked away with time)..

Next up was the AG gloss this became hard work as the sun came out but soon the sun packed its bags up and stayed cloudy. Once removed and a cup of tea had been drunk I moved onto using 2 waxes.

The first wax up was the AG spray wax, once sprayed and wiped i left the car for half an hour before starting again with the collinate stuff, this started to set hard on the car as it was now approching lunchtime and i wanted this done before the flies decide to come out and attract themselves to the car. Once all the wax had been buffed off I moved on to the wheels.

The wheels were done with a jet wash yesterday and today with an old mit along with AG shampoo, some turtle wax tar remover was on hand in case but found it came off easily with a slight touch of collinate (however its spelt) wax placed over it. Once the wheels looked clean the tyre rims were done with a sponge and AG tyre dresser which i find is better to spray onto the sponge then wiped as it becomes messy spraying it straight to tyre.

Lastly (apart from the quick vaccum inside) the windows, here i used AG glass cleaner cream which seems to be the dog danglys as you can see it dry on the window and see where you have buffed it off once dry.

Not done the full works in months so hopefully this is all i need to do till spring next year as there wont be many weekend chances between now and winter to get the car done to this standard. should just need a squirt of water and shampoo over the coming months when dirty and maybe a quick squirt of the AG spray wax here and there and certainly no long hours out in the cold depth of winter

Thats a bit pre-emptive, its not even autumn yet!

its autumn term according to my daughter lol, ive decided to get the winter treatment in now as the weather cant make its mind up and i dont have time in the next couple of weeks (of which is then the wet season) ;) still 6 months time is March when the weather should be getting good again ;)

The car hasnt been touched in a week so at moment is covered at the front in soft bugs (from where they have soaked up the thickly applied wax lol) was gonna give it a quick wash tonight ready for tomorrow but got back in the dark and was then too late.:(

Any 'after' pics? :P

Just kidding, looks good. Mine's on the drive if you want to come and do it :D

funnily enough i was thinking about doing mine ready for the winter :D

maybe this is the inspiration that i need to get it done

Nice job :)

How do you clean the extreme bottom part of the windscreen inside without getting white cream on the dash?

i put the AGGCC on the top down to the bottom quarter, let it dry and then wiped it off with another cloth and whilst wiping it off wiping it down through the bottom quarter, stops the cream marking the dash and still cleans the window ;)

Did give it a very quick jetwash earlier (no shampoo) just to get all the dirt and flies off before the oxon meet, looked worse imho as it had white spots over the body work. :( but good news the wax is doing an excellent job:thumbup:

Manual "Thanks" for the cleaning tip.

I can't find the "Thanks" button

Wel, if last years 'winter' is anything to go by, there wont be much to worry about.

thats true, having said that i did have a little fun in the snow last year watching the TCS light flashing away like christmas tree :D
