bent passenger side wiper arm

Featured Replies

Over the past few dyas it has come to my attnetion that my passenger side wiper arm must be bent as the wiper is covering my tax disc.

I've checked some pics of the car and it used to lie completely flat. Now, I did have my windscreen replaced by rac windscreens and I've only noticed it since then so I'm guessing they could have done it.

I guess my question is whether it's possible to alter it to get it back to normal? I've tried forcing it back to the original position but it just pops up again.

Am I best off just trying it on with my dealer and saying my wiper 'looks funny' ? Perhaps they will just replace it right?

Any ideas?

have you changed your wiper blades recently?

i ask because OEM N/S wiper blade is shaped, Replacements are straight

The wiper arms will have been removed to change the windscreen - so might have been refitted incorrectly. Bent passengers side blade, that should read "curved" - I thought that most people were on to straight aero blades. My daughter's Ibiza 6L had been dealer "attended to" all its life prior to her buying it - all blades were VAG but all were not the proper Seat Ibiza ones - strange - just like mother inlaw's Fiesta always dealer "attended to" Ford blades but all the wrong ones - why don't people try to use the correct bits not just whatever is lying around! Bend wiper arms are what you get when you do things like switch on wipers that are frozen to the screen - or don't let them auto park before switching the ignition off (that was daughter with her Ibiza again!!).

Nope, no changes at all. Pics from before the refitted windscreen show everything sitting completely flat.

cheers ... I follow thre first bit but I'm lost after that. If they've been refitted incorrectly, can I sort them myself or is it just worth taking into the dealer's?

Sorry for the confusion and the delay in replying. The windscreen people will possibly have removed the wiper arm assemblies when they worked on the windscreen. When they replaced them they might have fitted either one or both incorrectly. These arms fit onto spined hubs so it is quite possible to end up with a "rotational" error. Either unbolt the arms and fit them correctly or go back to your windscreen people and get them to sort it FOC. There will be a quoted "fitting height" issued by Skoda - but they should park low down without touching the bottom of the screen.
