Skoda wont start

Featured Replies

Hi I hope someone can help me with this problem. I drive a Skoda blueline 1.2 2003 model. Petrol. The problem I have is the ignition turns over I have fuel going through the injectors and a good spark on the plugs but the engine will not fire:mad: The AA mechanic who I called out was baffled and said by rights the car should be going as he could not find any cause for the problem. I am no mechanic but have tried everything to fire up the engine, Has any one else had this problem or give some guide lines on what is wrong.

Might be worth having a diagnostic check carried out. There are many members who have the equipment to help you, have a look in the VAG-COM forum.

Same problem here (same car) have checked everything.Putting it down to a crank sensor however the throttle body seems to be blowing insteard of sucking air in? I have spark & fuel so it only leaves air thats the problem.

I removed breather pipe on inlet manifold but air is blowing out of tat aswell, next step is to remove lambda sensor as i'm certain theres no air getting in.Funningly enough did get a MAP sensor fault a while back...surely a faulty MAP wont stop car from starting?

Did you ever get yours fixed rockabillypaul?

just to add (1.2 53 plate by the way),tried 'easy-start' (no different) & even towed car around block!

As if air isn't getting to chambers:confused:

Could be wrong engine timing due to a faulty timing chain / tensioner ? If the timing isn't to far off the engine will run, but often store a faulty MAP sensor.. If the timing is very wrong, engine won't start and you might have bent the valves etc...

Hope I'm wrong, and that the fix is cheaper than what would be the case if I am right.

Thanks for reply:thumbup:

That was another thought (timing out) which had considered. I'll check the timing over weekend after done a few more (easier) checks:)

Hi yes it was the timing chain, cost a pricey sum of £578.00 to get fixed apparently one of the cogs that drive the chain had a broken tooth on it. hope yours isnt the same problem. it seems its a common fault on these motors.

My skoda will be gone soon and i will not buy another one
