Dipping wing mirror when reversing?

Featured Replies

Hi.

This is for a left-hand driven car, so wing mirror L/R may be different to you, if you're driving a right-hand driven car. Here goes;

My Octy II ought to have the right wing mirror changing position when I select reverse gear, since I also have the electric drivers seat with memory which should allow me to store up to three different settings for seat, wing mirrors as well as this alternative right wing mirror position when reversing the car.

The problem is that the right wing mirror does not change position when I select reverse!

The manual says that to store its alternative position, I must select reverse gear, set the wing mirror adjust **** to R and adjust the mirror to its alternative position. Afterwards I must select 'idle'? This must be a typo in the manual, because I don't know if it really means I must start the engine, and let it idle, to finish the alternative mirror positioning (which would be odd), or if it means that I simply must deselect reverse gear. I think the latter.

I have done the above, and afterwards stored my settings to memory position 1. The problem is only the seat and mirrors are adjusted to their correct positions when I select memory 1 - nothing happens to the right hand wing mirror when I put the car in reverse. I have enabled the auto dipping mirror in the MaxiDOT, so it should work, right? If I move the mirror adjustment **** to R (while reverse is selected), my previously set dip position is moved to, but it can't be right that I need to set this **** to R before putting the car in reverse each time, to make the right hand mirror dip? It should happen by itself when I select reverse, and then I can select and deselect this feature in the MaxiDOT, right?

Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong?

Cheers,

Steen

What about linking them both together - does that work?

I have the memory seats with the dipping mirror and this is how my one works:

Select reverse gear with the kn()b set to L (right hand drive of course), the mirror dips to the pre set positon, this can be adjusted while reverse and L are selected, this position will then be memorised. The mirror will then return to normal after one of three things:

1) The car exceeds forward speed of 10mph

2) The mirror kn()b is set to anything other than L

3) The ingnition is switched off.

If you engage reverse and the kn()b is NOT set to L the mirror will do nothing, it MUST be set to L to dip with the reverse gear selection. It's not a problem IMO to leave it set all the time.

I assume there is a memory dipping position for 1, 2 and 3 but I have not checked this as I only ever use memory 1.
