Cambelt/water pump change at

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wasn't expecting quotes for over £550 for cambelt/water pump replacement after reading that people here paid as little as £300.

I live in London, so does that explain why. Most of the quotes I got were from independants.

The Q is, has anyone paid a lot less for a garage not too far from London they can recommend. I'm prepared to travel.

many thanks

Sounds like a similar story to when I had mine done and I eventually got my 60k service (inc cambelt) done at a main dealer for £450ish. Does your price include the service too as I think some people on here just quote for the cambelt change work and not the service?

The quotes are for cambelt, water pump and v belt replacement

At £550 a main dealer will do it and the service I would have thought :o

Depends on which service you're doing it in conjunction with. On my Ibiza, a local Seat garage wanted £705 for 60k plus belt/tensioners/pump

What's crucial here, as you probably know, is labour rates in your particular area of the country.

Have a holiday in Scotland or something, and drop in at Star on the way!! :D

I agree completely, why not make it worthwhile and get Star to fit Cupra TCA bushes at the same time!! Strangely, my daughter got a Tyneside Seat dealer to change her cambelt etc and that was very cheap - even cheaper than most Northern VAG indep's!!!
