Octavia vRS boost noise ?

Featured Replies

I've had a search around and found nothing conclusive so thought I'd start my own post.

I have a T-fsi vRS and tbh whilst it looks and goes well, I'd like the turbo whistle and a bit more noise when accelerating.

I'm not meaning like the old cossies and subarus with the huge chatter as they back off, just a mediocre turbo whistle and maybe some light dump valve noise.

The car is completely standard and I can not do too much to it as it is a leased car.

Reading between the lines, it seems a CAI would get me what I'm after, and the dump valve is recirculating not to atmosphere so it will never be too loud.

But I'd like peoples opinions on what can be done and just how much difference it would make.

The car is new and it has only done 1500 miles, so I am guessing this is why it also feels a little unresponsive atm. I am hoping the engine will loosen up over time, but any pointers to getting the noises I am after and possibly tweaking the response and performance slightly will be greatfully recieved ;)

For noise only then the Forge Spacer will do what you want.

An induction kit would give you some induction noise but you'd need something that utilised a cone type filter and some pipework which would mean you running without the OEM engine cover so it's not entirely subtle for a lease car.

Thanks Stu. Having seen a few vids of that on a Golf V forum, it is nearly what I am thinking of.

Essentially what I am mainly looking for is the whistle of the turbo during spool up. Spose I am harking back to my school days when I used to get a lift in my dads Saab 900 Turbo. That had an awesome whistle to it as it was winding up, and it is this I am thinking of.

Maybe it just comes down to sound proofing and the actual turbo itself, but it would be interesting to see if I can get mine 'whistling' :)

Mine whistles great but its a mk1.

Mine too - BMC CAI and Forge DV. You hear the turbo spooling up and a non-chavvy "whoosh" from the DV.:thumbup:

Record the sound of your favourite car onto Cd and play it at the volume you enjoy! that way you save money, don't effect reliablity and don't hurt your warranty either! Just think, You could make your four pot sound like a Ferrari, TVR or even an F1 car!

Hope this helps!

Not the most constructive post ever

Plus by the time I've finished with the audio, a TVR soundtrack would sound better than the original

Are these Forge Spacers, quiet during normal driving conditions?

I don't think I could cope with the ear ache from the Mrs, I remember when I had a straight through back box, the moaning was more annoying than the droaning from the exhaust.
