vRS TDi Questions

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just a couple of questions about the vRS TDi. Firstly, what sort of economy can REALISTICALLY be expected. I don't mean driving at 35mph in 6th gear everywhere. I mean sticking to the speed limits but being used to overtake etc when needed.

Secondly, what sort of performance increase can be expected with a remap, and what bearing does this have on the economy?

And finally, how much is the road tax under the new classifications?

Thanks :D

Just over 200 ponies and 300lbft I think Phil.

I've yet to get less than 38mpg out of a full tank over 450 miles and generally get 40 -42mpg using available performance and driving in a notably 'brisk' manner. M-way cruising at 70mph or less will give you 45+ mpg.

A remap might improve this by 3-5mpg if you keep to driving as before; but if you use the available extra performance expect the same level.

As VRStu says; 200bhp with 300lb/ft is par for the course on a remap.

I regularly get between 40-45mpg for my normal drive to work (11miles with a mixture of B roads, A roads and motorway, also some stop/starting at lights/roundabouts). The best i have got is just over 55mpg when I drove from Stafford to Swansea through mid wales. This involved a road driving and overtaking slower cars and tractors when required. All in all very happy with it.

My car is standard so can not comment on a remap. I would concur that around 200bhp appears to be the standard gains for one (a couple of people on here have had a remap so hopefully they can tell you more).

I think my road tax was £120 for the year.

Are PD170 mapping options as available/numerous as those for the PD140? Are the usual places offering them? Jabba/Revo dealers etc.

Steve

PD170 remapping is still not very widely available, though some have been brave enough to offer it. I've not seen any postings along the lines of "a remap killed my PD170" yet either. But I also haven't seen many members on here posting with experiences of their PD170 remapping.

I get an average of 43mpg over a tank, but I can get more if I'm careful. My driving is 18 miles to work with a combination of B and A roads with lots (too much since the kids have gone back :( ) of stop starting.

Dave.

I've just been doing a bit of looking about. Seems Revo may be about to release something, going on some threads on SCN.

Steve
