vRS Turbo and injector limit

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anyone know what the OEM turbo limit is in terms of bhp and torque?

Also, does anyone know the power limit for the stock injectors?

If I wanted a remap to say 180bhp and 320lb/ft, would the OEM turbo and injectors be able to cope? (This assumes that those powers levels could be reached in the first place, via a remap and improved intercooler and air intake etc).

Or would I be better uprating these items to say the Ibiza Cupra turbo?

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Fab vRS

Its a bit of a "how long is a bit of string" scenario.

180 and 320 are acheivable fairly easily, but not many mappers will give you 320 ft/lb on the standard clutch as you will munch it up pretty rapidly.

A map on its own will take you up to your desired figures, standard injectors (using only diesel) max out around 220 bhp but to get there you need exhaust/turbo/map/clutch/preferably FMIC/decent air intake

Thanks

Yeah, I have a fair idea of how to get those figures with uprated clutch and exhaust etc, but am wondering how the stock turbo and injectors will cope with the higher power? I don't really want to go for a bigger turbo because I like the lack of lag with the stock turbo.

in that case get a custom map and your mapper will map your car safely within the limits of your current setup. Expect 170-180 bhp and 270-300 ft/lb.

but to be honest you get very little extra lag with an upgraded(Stage1-2) turbo, and sligltly more with a FMIC due to the increase in air volume.
