Power Upgrade Vrs

Featured Replies

This is my First thread as a new user to the site. I am now the proud owner of a 2004 plate Fabia Vrs. I am looking at upgrading the power, not that it has already got enough that is! Whilst searching the Web,I have noticed that there are many types on ebay promising upgrades of 40 bhp at a very low cost of around £50. There are also some promising less power but at around £150. I would like to know whether the cheap ones really are too good to be true, or whether to stay well clear of these low cost power upgrades. I would also like advice on any recommended upgrades etc.

Happy Threading:thumbup:

Best and most reliable way for a power upgrade is a custom remap. They cost between £400-500 but they will ensure that you get what you want out of it as well a making sure that the stress on the reat of the car such as turbo, clutch and flywheel is kept to a minimum.

A £50 40bhp power upgrade is nothing more than a 50p resistor in a box that fools the ecu into dumping more fuel in and they can be far more trouble than they are worth.

THere are other various methods of power ups around including generic remaps and tuning boxes. Have a search.

Have a search through the forum, its been covered more than once :)

edit: beaten to it plus Decron's response is much more comprehensive

I had a quick test of one of these resister boxes (£50 boxes on ebay) i didnt notice any difference in power, they only fool the ecu in thinking that the engine still cold!

I had a digital Dragon tunning box for a while i would reccomend one of these, improved bhp/torque/mpg and installed and removed in 10 mins:thumbup:

I have now had a remap this is definately the best out of the 3 more power and alot more nicer to drive:D

Why do you 'need' more power?

I'd be very suspect of 40bhp for only £50!

Dragon boxes for about £300 do work but not perfect IMO.

Why not concentrate on the car's weak points, understeer, suspension and brakes but that would certainly cost more than £50 :D

At the moment I have only upgraded my vrs with a jabba anti roll bar, this is, by an overwhelming majority, beleived to be the single most effective modification you can make to your vrs and I would agree.

Have a think about it there's plenty info on here when you use the search function :thumbup:

Welcome to Briskoda by the way!!!

:iagree: the car needs more braking power and chassis control jabba rear arb should be the first mod,unless you come across some 312mm brakes first at a bargain price:thumbup: * jabba rear arb

* whiteline front arb

* front upper and lower strut braces

* rear upper and lower strut braces

* kw coilovers

* 312mm brake conversion

* toyo r888 tyres

* morego front wishbone mod

* limited slip diff

* uprated clutch

* fmic

* pd 160 intake

* green cotton filter

* full de cat exhaust system

* uprated stage 1 turbo

* custom map.

if your pockets are deep this would make a good car and modding it in this order would imho be the best way to go:thumbup:

Why do you 'need' more power?

To go FASTER:P

To go FASTER:P

Did they up the speed limit without me knowing it then?;)

Why do you 'need' more power?

There is a simple answer to this question;

Because it's there to be had.

Once you've felt the extra poke you wont go back to standard:D

Yup, special papal dispensation for those Roman Catholics prepared to be unselfish i.e. have more children. ;)
