Central door locking failure -HELP please

Featured Replies

My RS has been at the dealers today for the 3rd time to get the passenger door open. This failed over 2 months ago and the delay has been caused because the dealer needed a new door trim to replace the one they have to cut. Basically, the door refuses to open as it is locked on the deadlocking system.

So today dealer has cut door trim ( which cannot be removed on alocked door!) to gain access to the central locking mech They have removed the old one and replaced with new- and even the one from the drivers door - but still no joy. Skoda technical have apparently no more ideas than I have! Anyone out there any ideas as I'm getting a bit cheesed with this now - esp as I now have a billy basic Fabia on the drive.

Have also posted on Vortex as the system is prob same for VAG cars

Locked out Steve.

sorry no answers for you.

my right rear passenger door refuses to open 95% of the time with a concurrent related problem with the courtesy light. apparently quite a widespread problem according to my garage. hopefully they are going to try and fix it come the service in a couple of weeks.

VWvortex search is currently down but I did come across this recent post re a US-spec Passat with unlocking problems:

Does the problem occur regardless of whether remote or manual unlocking is used? Also, has your dealer checked for a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) which might help isolate whether this is an electrical or mechanical problem?

with regard to my fault, i know that it shows up as an intermittent fault on the VAG tool.

Thanks Guys for your replies.

The door wont open with key or remote - been locked solid for 2 months! Saw dealer Sat am -seems to be electronic fault with control unit in the door which they think has shorted. Do they have one in stock -do they bllx. They have also removed the one from the drivers door and will replace both as a pair on Tuesday,- hopefully so long as the parts arrive.

Fingers crossed.

Steve

mine also won't open manually. good thing i rarely use that door.

Intermittently....

Rear passenger side door does not unlock...

Tailgate doe not unlock.....

Only had it a few times, seems rare, will get them to take a look at the service next week.

Hi all. Got my RS back with Cl fixed. Turned out to be the window motor relay control unit , which also controls the cl system. These units have a chip inside which had blown. To be on the safe side the dealer replaced both front door unit and locks as well. My wife had the Fabia for 6 days, but the RS came back mint inside after full valet.

Whilst there I asked about coil pack failure as this dealer has sold a good number of RS cars - todate they have not received one fault, or indeed any 1.8T car with misfire probs.Hope that continues! They were actually unaware that the problem exists . I gave them this site as a ref point.

Steve

strange.....

when i went to the garage to get my coil replaced, they cleared all the fault codes.

doubtful how this could have had anything to do with it, but the intermittent problem has totally stopped and i've had no problems at all since - prior to this, the lock didn't open the vast majority of the time.

wonder why? probably the intermittent fault is still just that but less frequent.
