Dude, the way fuel costs are going I may be forced to consider turning taxi myself .

Just interested in a genuine comparison with a 130 PD octavia driven by a 'non granny' driver.

I'm sure I could get 40+ mpg out of my RS if I turned off the AC and drove at a constant 56mph, but where is the fun in that.

Bearing in mind mine is an SDI I get

Journey to work (30 miles motorway at indicated 80, 15 miles cross country, not slow) - 54mpg for the journey

Round town = 45mpg

Hooning it cross country = 42 mpg

Overall average in the last 7k miles - 49mpg

Seems to be better with more miles on at a gentle cruise, but worse when beating it. Worst average so far for a trip where the average was 79mph, 37mpg

Based on my 60k miles per year, comparing the RS to the "whale choker" looks like I'll be saving nearly

The 5.4 was at the Ring. There really is something perverse about getting 65 miles from a full tank
