Timing chain life

Featured Replies

Hi All,

The 1.2 12v Fabia has a timing chain rather than a timing belt. Does anyone know (roughly) how long these last for? I know belts have to be inspected regularly and changed at 40, 60 or 80k miles depending on the model. Is the same true for chains or do they have a longer life? I know the 1.2 Fabia is a fairly new model but any comments on the life of timing chains in general would probably be educational - I know some older Skodas used them.

Thanks.

They pretty much last the life of the car. :)

How much did it cost roughly (if you don't mind my asking)?
