1.2 HTP 4 Year Service

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

The Wifes Fabia is due for its service in the next couple of weeks. As its coming up to four years old, does the timing belt/water pump need doing?

She does not do many miles and Im not sure if the 1.2 engine has the same service requirements as other VAG engines.

Any one know?

Cheers

Chain driven mate.

So does anything need doing or will it just be a "standard" service?

Depends on the miles to be honest...

29k

That will just be an Annual then, Oil, Filter, and a sump bung, oh and screen wash if you take it to a dealer like us!

Doesn't have a timing belt but a chain as noted before which lasts the life span of the engine.

The service should include spark plug change (40k or 4 years) and checks on power steering fluid, aux drive belt. If you have had the brake fluid changed at year 2 service it will need replacing again as this is done every 2 years

Well blow me.

I thought it was only the 1.4 8V motor that was chain. Cool, that's one less thing to worry about :)

Doesnt need plugs doing till 40k...not 4 years.

At four years the car should have a 40k regardless of mileage (its in the service schedule).

Right yes thats true..

Lets put it this way, im a Parts Advisor, not a Service Advisor.....

Hell most of our service advisors fail to grasp that concept, its down to us technicians to tell 'em.

Sounds about right mate!

Do you work at a big dealer, or a small family run one?
