Trade-in value - any ideas?

Featured Replies

Any ideas as to what I would get for a 2007 07 Octy II 2.0tdi DSG L&K (the latest L&K with more spec) as trade in? Got about 4k on the clock.

Being newish the trade guides don't list them.

Cheers.

are you looking to sell it or just find out how much its worth?

Knock the VAT off what you paid and probably about another 500-1000 on top I'm afraid.

Yep, the initial hit in the first 12 months can be huge due to the VAT issue. Also if you added extras chances are they will be worthless as a p/ex. They will help you sell the car, but dont add value.

Looking to sell. Probably just having a bad day and had enough of Skoda's cr*p customer service. First and last Skoda I'll ever have. I'll calm down tomorrow (until I get into the next round of communication with Skoda and the dealer!).

No chance of selling it on here then after that comment, will make people wonder what is wrong with it.

See my previous thread:

A few small pimples under the paint which Skoda maintain are stonechips. I can pay £60 to chipsaway but why should I when I think it's something under the paint. Skoda UK send contradicting letters and the last said I could not see a copy of their paint inspectors report due to the data protection act! What the heck has DPA got to do with a paint report on a customer car? Love the car, just not Skoda's attitude.

Wow, just read that other thread, shocking!

DPA is a cop out, as DPA primarily ensures that data that is collected from private individuals is processed according to the primary reason for collecting it. For instance, you can't collect names and addresses as part of a survey then go on to sell that information to a credit card company.

I'd challenge them on the DPA bit, but that's the area I work in (I'm in Information Security). You're probably dealing with some dunderhead who likes the official sounding DPA term as a get out clause.

Dave.

Yes , the DPA prevents them from misusing information without good cause , but showing you of a copy of a report on your own car is clearly not misuse.

It's a standard pathetic excuse used by plenty of people who don't understand the DPA

Thinking on about this a bit more, why not call their bluff? Write to Skoda with a Subject Access Request (SAR). Under the DPA, you as a 'subject' can request any information held about you by the Data Controller (in this, Skoda). Now since this person you've already been talking with has called the DPA card, then clearly they have personal information about you which is under governance of the DPA. So ask for it formally.

Skoda may make a small charge for this, it's usually about £10 or less.

If they don't produce the paint inspection report, then obviously that information isn't relevant under the DPA, so they can give that to you outside a SAR :)

Honestly, they have well and truly painted themselves into a corner with this one.

Go on, challenge it :)

Dave.

Here you go :

Making a Claim

Just take 'em to court :-) Few minutes online and thats that. Worth every penny if just to see them squirm.

It's dead easy !
