Sorry if this is a dim question, but I've just got a Fabia vRS SE and although the owner's manual describes the various TCS and ESP components pretty well, it's a bit vague about whether the car actually has them fitted.

I've got a button marked ASR on the dash, but could anyone tell me if I have a full ESP system, or just basic traction control?

Any help will be gratefully received..........

If you have an ASR button then you don't have ESP, you have the basic traction control system which works by killing power to both wheels if it detects slip at either of them

ASR is installed as standard. ESP was always a cost option so you'd know if you got it. Having said that I don't know if it was part of the SE equipment...

1. So what do the letters ASR actually stand for?

2. There's a pull down drawer below and right of the steering wheel. Inside there's a tab/**** with the word 'on' printed on it; what is this?

Without looking it up (again) I think it is Anti Slip Reduction (gonna get hammered for this). Do a Google for "ASR Skoda"

Pull down drawer - extra hidden compartment - useful for Sat Nav, mobile, whatever.

Re the 'on' I think you might be able to divert extra cooling with this 'On' as in the glovebox (for cooling drinks etc).

Yup, drinks cooler. With the aircon set to blow through the dash vents it directs cold air onto whatever you place there. Same as the rotary dial in the glovebox.

Just be aware that the drink 'cooler' pumps the air being sent into the cabin into the compartment so it will heat things up as well as cool them. The glovebox is always cooled.

You can turn on/off the cooling/heating in the glovebox & the little can holder anyway, if you prefer
