Shaking steering wheel?!!?!?

Featured Replies

And by the way, changing them is not a cheap job. For just the replacement, Awesome charged me £105 labour plus cost of parts which was about £35.

BUT, you need to have a geometry check done too as the front steering alignment will be way out after they've been replaced. This bumped up the total cost including a 4WA to £215 inc vat.

Car is booked in with the main dealer on Thursday. Mechanic there seems to think that bushes may not be the problem as believes they would have a different effect on the car as apposed to the ones mentioned in previouis messages.

Will let you all know the outcome. Hopefully not too expensive as this is moding money being frittered away here!:o:rofl:

Just ordered cupra bushes from local seat stealer. £16 all in, which I thought was good + £2 to post them to me.

already have 2 of them in stock in the house , and 2 already fitted in consoles , plus another brand new console ready for bush fitment :D

is it a pooy job fitting them then as someone said 200ish to fit!!!

Not a £200 labour job!

No, it's about £140 to fit if you'd read my post more carefully. The rest was for the 4WA afterwards which you should have done as you've just made major changes to the front suspension.

The £140 was based on 2 hours labour at £45 per hour plus vat and the parts themselves (all 4 bushes were changes for me - front console bushes too).

I've had a funny vibration when at cruising speed, hard accelaration and hard braking, just thought my tyres needed balancing so i had them done a couple of weeks ago. At first i thought it had solved the problem cause it seemed fine while driving normally, nothing at low revs, cruising speed or braking!

But the other day i put my foot down and a strange vibration started at high speed about 115+

Could this be the bushes aswel?

your car must be a pot hole magnet ,

when you were having the wheels balanced , why didn't Kwik-fit (or whatever) tell you all the wheels were buckled ?

  • Author

dont know, very annoyed. Has cost me160 to get the official diagnosis. wheels are only 10 months old!!!!! gutted...

WTF????? All of them??

Can't believe Kwiksh1t didn't notice that one. Bloody useless.

I know, shocked. Every wheel is buckled, and not slightly either!!!

Ouch. That's bad. Any ideas how they ended up like that?

Two front on a speed bump i think?!?!? Swapped first 2 buckled to the back then buckled the other two on pot holes in my local area, big pot holes!

Wheels are only 10 months old.

Shocker

Just looking at your sig, they're not standard alloys are they?

Wonder if they're a little soft and have given way easily.
