Windscreen Washers Failed

Featured Replies

My windscreen and rear screen washers are no longer pumping fluid. The pump motors can be heard, and the wipers react to the stalk, but no water....

Before it is stated, the obvious that is, the fluid is full, although it did empty completely last time....

The headlight washers are ok, at this point, and react to every 5 windscreen requests.

Any ideas as to where to look?

Many thanks,

Griff

Is there any screenwash fluid dribbling onto the ground undere the engine, that would indicate a loose connection between pump and washer jet?

The Fabia has a habit of the connection to the rear screen coming apart at a T-join by the rear bulkhead, with fluid going to the ground.

None at all....

Any idea as to where the pipework goes?

Many thanks

Are the jets blocked? If you went down to the dregs last time you could have pumped some scum into the jets and blocked them. Try sticking a pin in and see if this has any affect.

My washer fluid was smelling awful so I let it run down then refilled with fresh stuff. I let the hosepipe just dribble fresh water in as I was doing other stuff. When the bottle topped out the amount of weird looking scum that had floated to the top was yukky.

if it is the same as a mk1 octy suspect the pump, as it is the common component .

they reverse the pump to feed the rear wiper which confused me as i could only find one pump when my rear washer failed

My rear one did the same and i just pushed the pipe back together. then pipes and behind the brake pipes on the right hand side

Pump failed - impeller loose or something, as once removed, then hit, it worked...

However, I did not remove or hit it to work!

Skoda assistance! First class service indeed, 'phoned through and sorted with replacement pump and VAG washer fluid thrown in!

Thanks chaps, and all the input on this thread.
