Child Seat Recomendations Please

Featured Replies

Hi,

My son is out-growing his Britax Duo Plus Isofix seat, so we are looking for a new one.

Ideally we want group 2 & 3 and Isofix (for octy II). I have my eye on a Jane Indy Plus Team Isofix, but some people appear to have problems getting it to fit in their Octy.

Any thoughts / suggestions?

cheers

R

My recommendation would be to go to one of the big Mothercare stores and try a few out in the car to make sure they fit properly. Then, depending on your conscience  , you can either buy there or go home and find the cheapest price online....

There aren't many manufacturers who do Isofix in the higher age groups!

Try having a look on the Britax site i'm sure there is the next stage still with Isofix and it'll be similar to what you have now.

I was at the Baby Show in Glasgow earlier this year and I asked the Recaro expert there about Isofix and he said they are planning 1 for stage 2-3 but it may be some way off!

Have a look on Kiddicare.com as they are very cheap and the service is great. It's where I got my Britax Duo Isofix.

HTH.

We got a bigger seat for our girl a few months back. The only stage 2-3 seats that use the Isofix mounts are the Jane Indy Team Plus and the Britax Evolva 2-3 Isofit.

The Jane does NOT fit on the Isofix mounts in the Octavia 1, and I doubt it will fit in the Octy 2 either. The only Skoda listed in the compatability list is the Superb. I can't lay my hands on the info right now, but I'm pretty sure the same is true for the Britax. The reason they don't fit is that they're wider than the Duo Plus, and the side support of the rear seat stops them lining up with the Isofix mount points. The Jane does fit if you just use the seatbelt to secure it, and I'm sure the Britax will too.

We bought the Jane because the Britax had only just come on the market and there wasn't much stock around. It lives in our Passat most of the time where it does fit the Isofix mounts. It's an OK seat, but the Isofix mechanism is a real pain in the ****. After the excellent Duo Plus, the Jane is really fiddly and hard on the fingers. I've since seen the Britax Evolva 2-3 Isofit, and it looks a much better mechanism. I'll be buying one of those when we need a second stage 2-3 seat in a couple of years.

I'd also have a look at the standard Evolva 2-3 (no point paying for Isofix if you can't use it). The space saved by lack of Isofix mechanism allows for a pull-out drink/snack holder on each side.

Thought those of you in the market might be interested in a brief update.

We tried to buy the Britax Evolva 2-3 Ultra but was told by a couple of vendors that this is no longer available.

We bought the Britax Evolva 2-3 Ultra Isofit instead and it works a treat. It is easier to fit than the Isofix Dup-plus and is much larger. The youngster also says it is much more comfortable. The only downside is that with the seat head-rest in its lowest position, the car seat head-restraint has to be quite high - it won't be long before it will have to be removed totally.

We paid £98 from Halfords (on a 10% off day) - only available online.
