"New Age vRS"

Featured Replies

The MK I Octavia vRS was a sales hit for Skoda when it was first unveiled as it offered customers the holy grail of being well built, excellent practicality, bags of speed & power, great handling and offered supreme value for money. It was also a bit left field and gave buyers a sense of satisfaction at not following the rest of the herd.

Can you think of a current car that combines all of these attributes to provide all of the ticky boxes that the original Octavia vRS did?

Puppies

But, Hush, don't tell everyone :P

your's seems to do quite well?

Sorry - No ( I now have a headache after all that thinking :D:) )

Not at the moment. Perhaps one of the Korean manufacturers will surprise us in the near future with something? Everything else right now seems to be in the same vein, predictable.

I think perhaps the VX220 did the same thing, but it's not really current

It does but it's not that cheap really unless second hand - Bargain!!. I tried for ages to think of one but couldn't really think of anything. maybe this was a bad idea for a thread lol.

I suppose that Holden are making the new vRS with it's current cars but that's a couple of price brackets up.

oops, just had a look...didn't realise they were £24K list :o but nearly new ones are, like you say, a relative bargain :D

Not really.

In fact not a lot grabs my attention at the moment like the Mk1 did.Except perhaps the MkII for the 'being different' option.

All cars in that bracket all seem to have similar performance.Same in the Fabia vRS section.

The whole world and his dog seems to have similar performing diesels or petrols at the moment.

Somebody do something ! (if the vRS II had been £16500 fully loaded at launch +225bhp,it would be it:thumbup: ) even Seat is toooo expensive:thumbdwn:

I'm guessing that Skoda did this to put themselves on the map and that we're unlikely to see that again now they're established. I reckon the ones to watch are the "new" manufacturers like Kia, new Rover and Chevrolet who are all fighting for market share....

Fiat also seem to be offering good packages now, but not groundbreaking because they've always been doing it, just now with added reliability

Chris

only way this will happen again is if Subaru sales are bad with the new Impreza and they start selling them at a reduced price

Which having seen the pictures of the new WRX is highly likely!
