Convenience settings

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Just like to say, what a great forum where I've found loads of stuff I never knew about my car!

I have a 2006 2.0 TDI L&K Octavia - have had it from new and absolutely love it to bits. I have it chipped and it goes like stink, and I take great pleasure when people can't believe they're getting their **** kicked from a Skoda!!

I was looking through the maxi-dot threads and have been trying to activate the convienence settings but this option doesn't seem to be available on my car? Is this only available on this years model, or is there something I've missed somewhere?

Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated!!

Mine's a 2006 and doesn't have it.

Oh well, bit of a pain as I wanted to change my alarm settings and all doors to open with one click.

Would a software upgrade do the job, or do I need another piece of hardware fitted before I can take advantage of this feature?

Anyone out there know anymore about this and if it can be done?

Cheers

Ross

yep, only from Model year 2007 cars unfortunately, same with my seat leon :(

I would like to know if it can be added though, its an ECU thing.

I've enquired about this with a dealer before and I don't think a SW upgrade is an option.

To answer the OP - Those settings can be chnaged with VAG-COM or the dealer VAS system but obviously not as conveniently as on the Maxidot.

So what do you think defines these extra settings etc? Completely new software in the ECU?

At a guess firmware in the Convenience Unit or the Can Gateway

I wouldn't worry about it too much mate....... I can only change the settings for the indicator "one touch 3 flash" thing on mine. I think once you've made the changes your likely to just leave them set anyway....mostly.

I might just pop outside and switch the 1 touch off again......... because I can!:P

.........as he opens the door for a flaming from everyone else that has more options on their settings and for demonstrating that I really have nothing better to do!

No problem, I thought as much - was well annoyed with Skoda with the amount of extra features on the 2007 L & K compared to the 2006 - just wished I'd held back a few months to take advantage of these!

Still, every manufacturer does this, although the Xenons and the other extras would have been nice to have!

As for the vag.com stuff, how easy is this to setup on a laptop and use yourself, where can you get it, or is there someone near that could do this for me, or do I have to go back to the dealer?

Not too bothered about the other convenience settings, but would really like to get the doors and alarm bleep sorted out?

Would help us if we knew where you were. You either need to buy your own or find someone with a CAN capable VAG-COM.

You can buy it directly from the makers in the US Ross-Tech: Home

Hi Stu,

Oops, sorry, forgot to put my location details in my profile - that's it sorted now! I'm up in Bonnie Dundee pal - do you know of anyone close that could do this for me?:o

I have loads of setting in my Octy via the maxi dot, but have never noticed anything about the alarm (not that i've really looked). Any idea what they are?

There is a thread made sticky in the diagnostics section which has a list of cable owners willing to help.

Don't bother with the alarm bleep - all you get is a pathetic little squeak, barely audible, when you lock the car.

Works ok on my 56 plate car.

The pathetic bleep is on a new L&K - the dealer reckons it's normal. A previous Fabia we had used to bleep loudly once on locking and twice on unlocking.

The "chirp" is a nice little touch albeit a little quiet but 9 times out of 10 you can hear it OK
