Tuning a Favorit

Featured Replies

What sort of power can you get from them, without adding forced induction.

The one I should be navigating in this year reckons he'll have about 120 (not sure if he's for real or not....)

Stick a 1400 16V in it and go the whole AAT hog ~> 215bhp :D or 232 from a 1600 16v.....

135bhp is possible, but it is down to good old dirty lightening, and balancing, and free flow exhausts, porting the head and fitting big valves, and huge twin Webers or Dellortos.

The engine with be just as reliable and strong, but will rev out the a real 7 or 8 grand, but won't make any power toill about 3k. Could get annoying for long road trips but doable if you insist

You don't wanna go that fast in a Favorit!!! Trust me, 100 mph is not a pretty sight, the poor thing isn't designed to go above 60 let alone 130 bhp's  worth of speed.

I can see the smile factor when you wipe it off the face of a Saxo (VTS badged) wannabe at the lights, wouldn't that money be well spent on say a Felicia 1.6 or even a cheap Fabia we've got one for

Yeah, but it isn't about just money.

Have a look at The Madfavorit site. I'm not sure they are campaigning that car now, as he planned to use the engine and box in a felicia shell, and go throttle bodies with an 8 injector system to try to push 150BHP out of it like the old Works cars did, hence why the site hasn't been updated for a while.

Most of the stuff there wasn't too pricey to do as it happens, it was just knowing what to use. 1.4 and 1.5 litre overbore kits are available for the Favorit/Felicia version of the engine in CZ, without going for the longstroke crank that the Fabia uses.

And I've heard that a company called something like "Autosport" in Birmingham will do a Cam regrind for about

Excellent :D

Oh, bit late on my reply to this, but have a look at Skofast .

John Shelley is a Skoda god in the UK, and spends most of his time living and working in CZ now, as well as tracking down interesting skoda bits to ship to the UK, on his regular visits.

He has sme of the elusive twin carb manifolds for 136 engines at the correct angle for Rapids and for front engined 136 (favvys, felatios and furbys) cars.

Madfavorit's car is now being used to create a Felcia which should be out this year on BTRDA events in 1400 form.

There is mention of a 1400 16V engine being slotted in but not for a while, they're going to see how competitive they are with the current 1400 engine first.

That's excellent news. I heard plans for a Felicia, and the old favorit being sold with a tweaked engine, but no details on their website about what the new car was going to be like.

They seemed to disappear off the face of the planet

Dave isn't involved anymore, Chris is building the car and will use it when it's finished.

Ah OK.So Chris is getting back in the saddle again. ISTR that Dave said the last time Chris rallied was in an old RS2000 back in the day.

I think I spoke to Chris on the phone once, when I had the favorit, and wanted some advice on things like quickshift gearsticks and things.

You still got the little beastie then Jon?? :D
