Fabia saloon!?!?!?!

Featured Replies

I've just had a fabia mark one saloon drive past me in a horrible gold colour.

I never even knew they made a saloon version. How (un)common are they?!!?!?!

I've seen quite a few of them.... The mk1 came in hatchback, saloon & estate versions..... I'm not sure but the saloon & estate are still available i think...... till the new mk2 saloon and estate versions come out anyway.

Cheers

Dave.

If one has just driven past you, and you have a vRS, it must be one of the fabled 2 litre ones:P

I think the saloon was only available as a 1.4-16v but was available in auto or manual. One of the chaps on here had it in auto form and couldn't get rid of it soon enough

Pretty rare!

They are a rare sight, only ever seen one on the road, and looked like it had come from Poland from the number plates. The grille on the bonnet was all chrome. Think the saloon was never popular in the UK as the hatchback version, so did not sell in large numbers.

Chris - according to the tech data booklet (2005) in the owners pack the saloon version had the full range of engines from 1.2 to 2.0

Me seeing quite a few of them must be a Sheffield thing by the sounds of you guys. :) I must say though i remember Clarkson mentioning on TG that nobody ever sees the Vauxhall Signum on the road but again i see loads of them driving around Sheffield. :)

Cheers

Dave.

Yeah they've been about a good while, not loads of them around though

Quite possibly. Luckily I was waiting to emerge from a t junction and the old man driver was turning off the main road into the road I was waiting on.

And, just to point out... it looked like one of those old focus saloons, ie they'd clearly taken a hatchback design and sellotaped a boot onto it!

They were discontinued a while ago, possibly 2003 in this market,

They were only ever avaliable here in Classic + Specification with a 1.4 75BHP Auto, 1.4 16v 100HP Manual or 1.9SDI

Limited Choice of colours and options too

They were not discontinued in 2003 as I bought one (my second) in Dec 2004.It's a facelift one which came out in hatch, estate and saloon at that time.I think thay are mutch better looking than the hatch but don,t hold out much hope of getting a third one as the do not sell in big numbers in the UK so don't expect the new Fabia will have a saloon version

Small saloons generally don't sell well in the UK, Focus, Megane Classic, Astra Belmont etc... all fairly rare.

The Fabia Saloon is, imho, one of the ugliest cars on UKs roads.

I quite liked it, especially as the boot was a decent size

I think...

Saloon versions of small and lower medium hatches (Fabia, Polo, Astra, Focus, 306) don't tend to sell well in the UK. Was surprised when I saw lots of these type of cars when I was on holiday in the Republic of Ireland. There is a saloon version of the 'old' Renault Clio which I have spotted in Mainland Europe and the USA - don't think it was ever sold in the UK.

I think the VW Bora / Jetta is quite cool though - popular in the USA, I believe.

Funny you should mention fabia saloons - I saw my first one today! In dark orange. Not the prettiest car I've ever seen, but then who am I to comment, being a Renault driver n all!!!

A friend of mine has a Saloon SDi - No comment, only that it continually exceeds 60mpg including M way runs.

Ive seen about 3 , in the 7 years that the Fabia has been out! AFAIK , there are no plans for a Mk2 Sedan , in this country at least.
