16" alloys

Featured Replies

Hi last weekend i bought some nice 16" alloys for my felicia. They are 195/45/16 et40 (felicia standard wheels are 38).

Only thing is they are 7j not 6.5j !!! Im guessing i will need spacers to reduce the offset to 35 ish, in order to move the wheels away from the suspension + brake lines.

If i use spacers where can i buy longer bolts ?

Final question is how safe are thoes "universal spacers" sold in halfords ???

... i cant see how the centre of the alloy would sit on the spigot ring using 5, 10, or 20mm spacers. Would this not put all the stress on the nuts ?

I really want everything to be as safe as possible, the thought of a wheel failing at 80+mph scares the hell out of me, especially as my gf rides in the car alot :o

right. i have 7j wheels on mine and theres not alot of clearance. but i dont know what the ET on mine are, and i'm running the HP sports shocks that are a different shape to the standard ones. theres about 8mm between tire and shock on mine.

as for the spacers. my wheels are almost outside the body as it is, but thats my wheels. iirc the spigot is tapered so you can get hubcentric spacers.

as for the halfords ones. forget it. there not safe!!!

firstly bolts get from B&Q

an old motorbike i had, the headstock nut (basically the thing that holds it all together) I bodged it with a nice long bolt 10" from B&Q then loads of washers and nilock nuts. halfrauds didnt supply anything like that!

Moral of the story, don't go to halfrauds go to B&Q for longer bolts.

With the spacers you may be better off getting from halfrauds thou.

oh i stand correted don't buy the halfrauds spacers.

pinkskud is very knoweldge-able at this

all sounds a bit dangerous to me.

Ill keep my 13" wheels!!!

:auto:

nahhhhh get the L&K

bbs 14" alloys

where from?

narr get some 15" BWA spyke's and powder coat them black.

well to be honist Either,

. Main Stealer  -expensive

. scrapyard

. since they are bbs alloys, you could probably order them fit to a felly with correct spacers etc. from bbs!

i'd try giving them a ring and ask what model is fitted to the skoda felicia, (they all look very simialar).

Im going to try and fit them tonight, if they rub then ill have to look for spacers or a pineapple! hopefully ill post some pics!

hang on a min. you havent painter them black yet!!!!!

only use correct bolts for alloy wheel, eirher conical or taper seats, any good wheel suplier will know which to use. a bloke at work tried using standard bolts on his £500 wheels and f---ed them in 50 miles!

Had 13" 5 spoke skoda alloys on my last three Felicias for the past 3 years, and they make the car look a lot better than steels / or trims. I have always kept the cars standard bar the sound system (250watt amp and boombox). Alloys do make it look a lot better, and with the extra weight in the boot - stereo and other junk - it looks lowered lol!! I would have bigger alloys if I wanted to, but the plan is to save for an Octavia!

I dont think the Favorit derived chassis was ever intended for 16s, stick with 13,14,15'' maximum wheels, you just loose acceleration with 16s and the car wont handle any better. They never fitted bigger wheels than 15s on the rally/race bred Favorits or Felicias.

Fitting 16s becomes just a purely cosmetic thing IMHO.

and 16" tyres are dearer than 15s or 17s

My Fun was better on the 15's than the 16's but the SEAT wheels did look nice.

...That looks awesome Lummox! 15s and in black really suit it, and I bet it does handle well.

and 16" tyres are dearer than 15s or 17s

Thats true, 205/40/17s are cheaper than probably ever 16'' tyre size as not many manufacturers use 16 diameter anymore.

Ive had 16'' alloys before on other cars and they were all dearer than the tyres i bought when I had 17'' wheels, and the dealers never had 16'' tyres in stock, always had to order them in!

Best rims on a Felicia depending on what look you are going for eg Euro/race/rally, id say you cant go wrong with:- ATS, Borbet, BBS, Ronal, Compomotive, Speedline, Revolution etc.

5 spoke rims are the pick of the lot, nothing suits a felicia better.

i got some 16inch on the way didnt know all this about them, oh well ill just have to go with the flow :D

go with it. we cant all have the same size wheels.

but got to say, Msport's right. 5 spoke borbet A's are good, but compomotive MO's are the Tittys.

...Those are the ones Im currently scouring the net for. Trouble is they are rather costly and I want a bargain ...ish, so il just have to wait. A nice set of 14 or 15'' Comp MO's in white

The standard skoda bolts use rounded seat, so ive just had to buy some tapered bolts. Thanks to who ever pointed that out, i probably wouldnt have thought to check that .... cost me £21 for 16 bolts :D gotta love ebay!!!

if anyone is interested you need M12x1.5 and 26mm long (longer if you use spacers)

I know fitting 195/45/16 will kill the acceleration, but my little felly doesnt have much to start with.... so im going for a fast appearance .... if looks could kill !!!

also there have been too many occasions (with the steel 13" ... which are only a pathetic 165mm wide), where i find myself defecating in my pants as the bicycle wheels fitted by skoda give up holding the road and do their best impression of john prescott ice skating. .... wet roundabouts usually do the trick. ... this is not good, especially if you dislike the taste of hedge, or enjoy the advantages of clean underwear! :thumbdwn:

dunno if you can see too well, but these are my 15s (7j)
