The gurgling noise when you switch the ignition on.

Featured Replies

How often do you get this??

When I filled the car up with diesel last week, I turned on the ignition to expect the fuel to make the gurgling noise into the injectors but nothing, it has only started doing this since the tank is about half full.

Is this normal?

David

I think mine does it all the time.................always has

I always thought it was the injectors being primed.

I've only really noticed it doing it when I got the car then when I filled it right up for the first time it stopped until it got to the half a tank mark.

David

Mine seems to do it when it's getting lower than ½ full.

I'm glad it's not just me then, cos I was going to be telling the garage when it goes back for a one month check in a couple of weeks that it was not making this funny noise, until about half full.

Thanks guys for you help on this one.

I'm still a newbie to diesel so not used to cars making a funny noise when switching on the ignition.

David

I thought the same when I first got the Fabia, as I was new to them too.

They all do it. :D

Never known mine not to do it. Perhaps it is more audible at certain tank levels. I've thought it is usually louder after the car has been stopped for a while. Starting shortly after stopping usually means less of a gurgle from memory.

The gurgle is fine as most seem to do that when half full.

Its when it starts Belching and Farting you need to start worrying.

Mine does it. Can't remeber exactly what it is, but there was a post a while back which said what it was. I think it was something like fuel being injected into something (technical I know!)

It's the fuel going through the return fuel cooler, just under the front of the front drivers side door.

I remember the salesman saying it was something to do with the Puse Duse engine?,

David

yup mine does it too.

The petrol fiesta I had before also used to do the same sort of thing.

I think this is a fuel warmer

My Fab vRs does it all the time.

If it's a wet day, I get steam coming from the fuel cooler under the drivers side.

I think it's just the electric fuel pump priming before you turn the key and the one on the end of the camshaft takes over.

Deffo a cooler, And upgrading it is possible ;)

Yup its the lift pump in the tank charging the supply side of the fuel system so the tandem pump can supply the engine.

Interesting, another problem I thought I had! lol. Guess not :)

glad this thread appeared, mine does it more often than not, sometimes louder than others, i thought it was broke lol

Mines does this mainly when the engine is cold.
