Anyone for a slice of humble pie?

My apologies to all Roomster owners, after much perusal of the interweb, I have now decided that it is pretty cool looking, bold in the way the Sierra was when it replaced the Cortina.

I hope it sells well and people manage to see past the badge.

I wouldn't like to line one up next to my Octavia, fitted with 2 child seats and offer the wife a choice.....think the Octavia would lose!

(but you can rest assured that won't be happening!):)

Famous last words??! Just think of the "living room" experience for your littlies - good view out and up (if you get the glass roof - which we haven't but then we're past that stage and a Roomie really would have been great). Not to mention all that leg room/putting-them-in-their-seats room/avoiding-the-kick-in-the-back-of-the-seat room!

I'm not on commission but probably should be!

Seeing lots around now. Olive one (poss Scout but too much traffic to look for long enough) in Rugby today, pale blue metallic Roomie 1 and silver ditto last week in Rugby. Storm blue 2 in Leamington a couple of weeks ago.

Always too busy driving to honk or wave altho lady in the olive one and I did make astonished eye-contact passing offside to offside!

We'll work on you, Skoda Mart!

Hey, don't take the banter the worng way dude!

Nothing wrong with a bit of healthy discussion!

Hehehe! Have just read the other thread (the comb-over one). Shall I referee?

To get back to the Roomster's plus points: when you get a child-free moment, sitting in the front or driving does not feel like a van or large mpv experience. I thought it might be claustrophobic but it isn't at all which could be down to ...

... adjustable height for passenger seat, which is so nice after years of feeling much too low down as a passenger. Higher driving position is good too. It just feels right (which is obviously why we bought it) and we test drove Fabia estates and an Octavia (as well as too many others to mention). Always felt hemmed in in the back seats of those.

Have already found that the adaptability of the rear seats is excellent, and the load capacity, yet the car is not long by any means. We're glad we got the parking sensors, all the same. The boot storage above the wheel arches (?) is so useful, too.

Others have got more technical or price-focused in the other thread but I really recommend you drive one and for 48 hours if that offer is still on.

I really don't like the Roomster in pictures, but whenever I've seen one in person it has a definite quirky charm to it. I can definitely see the appeal, even if I'm rather unlikely to ever want to own one myself.

  • 2 weeks later...

I think its a class little car , it p!sses all over the looks of the Berlingo , Kangoo , Doblo , Multipla etc. The Scout looks good too , pity they couldn't have slipped the Haldex 4wd system in there (if it fitted a TT then it would fit a Roomi!)
