VRS seats transplant - help!

Featured Replies

I have an Octy 1.8T 4x4 Elegance, and recently purchased some VRS seats to fit in it. (2nd hand, off eBay)

During installation the problem that has now come to light is that there is no airbag in the passenger seat, so wiring for it, or anything - it looks like it never had one.

How can I fix it without having a continuous airbag fault?

i woudl say no. ive heard before about older cars being fitted with newer seats that have side airbags, but you'd need a newer airbag ecu. couldnt you fit the old airbag from the orginal seats? or at least take it out and wire it in until a better solution or proper replacement bag can be sourced?

I wonder if the ecu can be coded to say that the seat airbags are not present.

not sure how they work in skodas, but if there is a octy without the side airbags then it might be possible to reprogramme or to replace the airbag ecu with the older type. maybe someone with VAGCOM might know for sure

Bump.

Can anyone help on the VAG-COM codes?

I wonder if you can just bridge the wires across cos when i fitted my momo steering wheel it comes supplied with a mini blade fuse that joins the two terminals that connect to the airbag which i assume just makes a circuit and the airbag ecu sees no fault?

don't go doing this on my say so though as i have no evidence of this and even if it does work i don't know if it would allow the other airbags in the system to work, all i know is that on mine the airbag light is not on even though i've got no drivers airbag anymore

They can be disabled with VAG-COM if you know the codes or by a Skoda dealer.

Sounds like you may have an odd pair though if you've got an airbag in the drivers seat. Have you been back to the seller?

How do I get the VAG-COM codes?

They aren't made freely available for the obvious reasons. Try your dealer.
