Petrol cap release

Featured Replies

Some of you may have seen the 1st episode of the new Top Gear series last night, when Clarkson ran out of fuel in a new Lambo and the electric part of the filler cap release spat its dummy out. They managed to open it by manually pulling the release cable.

Can this be done on the Octavia and where is it located? Most of us wait till the petrol light comes on, drive to a filling station and just press the release button never thinking what if this fails - one things for sure - you wont find me prising it open with a screwdriver!

JUST A THOUGHT - may need it one day.

I'm fairly sure on the Octavia you can open it by pulling back the trim inside the boot and pressing something on the inside of the filler. It's in the handbook I think.

Found it thanks, if anyone is interested its described on p86 of the handbook. Its worth having a go because its a little tricky to opperate, the assembly is mounted in reverse of the diagram in the handbook so you cant see - so a little fumbling is required!

I borowed an 07 octy the other day and I was stood at the station like a turnip looking for the release button.....I never realised that you press the cover and it pops open!!! I was looking all over for the lever like in my fabia!!

Hee Hee. Me too. I had a courtesy car.

Sat in filling station for 25 mins looking for lever before finally ringing dealer.

Dealer said pull catch. Taxi driver opposite said pull catch.

Just then a new Octy pulled in on the other side to me so i ran around and watched the driver touch the filler cap. Doh!

I just kept smiling as people looked and thought look at that t*t

When i first got my octy i pulled up at petrol station as the car was empty. Then began my quest to find the damn release button. My past cars were on the floor just inside the drivers door.

With a que mounting i finally found it next to the radio, how weird is that.

Anyway thanks for making me look a git skoda.

I really love the car though:D :D :D :D
