How much reliable power can you get.....

Featured Replies

out of the PD105 1.9TDI engine (Code ATD)?

What is the difference between this engine and the VRS BLT engine?

Any beefier parts in the PD150/PD160 engines that can be used?

I'm looking at tuning up my Fabia 1.9TDI. I've ordered the PD160 intake pipe. I am looking at possible turbo/injectors/intercooler work and a remap......

Will the gearbox take it? Do I need a VRS gearbox? Limited Slip Diff??

Any input greatfully received. :)

Depends how far you want to take it - a remap should see you up to the 130bhp of the vRS I imagine, but then if you lots and lots and lots of money at it, you could take things much further than that. It wouldn't be easy, though - you'd probably be better off doing an engine / gearbox transplant if you wanted to take it that far!

Sensibly, then, about 130bhp...

In fact, Revo reckon you can get 150bhp from a PD100, and Angel Tuning say 140bhp from a PD105 to give a couple of examples, so it's more than I expected!

Have a search on here and on the web, and you ought to find planty of info! :)

Does the PD100 have the same clutch and internals as the 130?

I imagine those (and the maximum fuel flow from the injectors and boost from the turbo) would govern the power gains in the first instance.

mmmm. so how much boost does the PD105 turbo give (standard and maximum) and how much does the PD130 Turbo give?

I will probably have to spend a bit on the project over time.

I previously built a tuned up Mk3 Fiesta Diesel........got it up to 120bhp at the wheels with 200lbs feet of torque....was running upto 28psi boost

i heard the newer fabia 105 engine would go to 130 bhp and be reliable. but go any further and clutches would be a issue.

Speak to Jason "Devonutopia" he's already been through all this and would be able to advise you ! ;)

Better have deep pockets though ! :D

STUPID question I know,but I can't resist.

Why not buy a vRS?

LOL.....there's always one!

Cos other people recongise the vrs as a fairly swiftly motor. A boggo standard looking fabia with about 150bhp would be therefore rather entertaining at traffic light GP's.

Another reason - I always wanted a vRS estate :-)

Because I alread have a 1.9TDi Elegance with all the toys I want......just need a few (loads) more ponies. :)

It will be more stealthy for special **** destruction missions!

I do enjoy modifying things.......even my Transporter van has had an uprated diesel pump and huge intercooler

and my old Escort van is slightly modified......

Nice....lol.

100PD has different clutch flywheel etc as it uses a 5 speed box not a 6 speed.

Is that armoured or something!?! We saw loads of Group 4 (rentacop) vans like that in Kenya - except the bulletproof windows were even smaller! Mmm, nothing like good visibility! ;):D

Does the VRS 6 speed box have a Limited Slip Diff as standard?

If so, I could get a VRS gearbox, flywheel and clutch.....

No, 'fraid not. All it has in that department is the "electronic diff lock" that's part of the ASR system, and seems only to serve to knock your fillings out if you wheelspin...
