Gasoline - Parking Heater - How to??

Featured Replies

Hi

I just got a good offer(520Pounds, or 5200DK, thats under half price) on a almost new Webasto parking heater, with telestart t90 remote.

But is there a installation manual, for a Felicia, with the AEE motor?

Here are some pictures of the kit(High res):

does this system heat the coolant on the vehicle or is it just an air blower? i have fitted several heaters into trucks but these have been eberspacher blown air heaters. if it is a coolant heater you will have to find a suitable place to tap into the coolant system, drop the fuel tank to fit the fuel pick up pipe and tap into the vehicle heater fan wiring so when the webasto is running the car interior is heated via the car heater. you mite also have to install an uprated battery. i would doubt if there is a manual for fittment to a skoda. you might have to contact webasto

looks interesting what is it?

I think it's to heat the car instantly without the need to run the engine or get the engine warm.

You plumb it into the cooling system for a faster warm up in colder climates :)

Parking heaters - I love them! If you live were winter means temperature below freezing point they are indispensable.

However, if you have an electric socket nearby (eg. if you park on your own driveway and can use an extension cable) the electric ones are cheaper (£150-200 here in Sweden) and less troublesome. Two parts, a heating element for the coolant system (gives you hot air immediately) and a cable with socket inside the car were you can plug in a small fan heater (and then the frost on windscreen and windows just thaw away while you're having your morning coffee in the kitchen). My Felly gets it winter service today (new plugs, oil, filters &c) and an electric heater!

I had a gasoline heater (air blower) in the (air-cooled) Citroën GS I drove in the 70's. It was OK, but it was always hard to start first time in winter. You should remember to run it once in a while during the warm period, but that's the kind of thing you always forget.

I'm looking into a parking heater for my Passat. I need the Webasto Thermo Top C.

Its diesel powered and heats up the engine coolant, it also utilises the car ventillation system to warm the interior. They come either with a timer or a remote control. The Webasto can be fitted with mobile phone activation if you so desire.

The ThermoTopC is about £700, +£150 odd for the posh remote control activation.

There are several benefits though, no plugging it into the mains, improved cold start fuel economy, no more deicing windows etc. If you plan to keep a car long term I think they are a good investment, and can of course be removed when selling the car...

The amount of fuel you use for having a parking heater, is less than if you run your car for 10 km.

So if you have your parking heater running for 10 minutes, and then you drive 10 km, you will actually get at better MPG, than just running a cold engine.

Yep. The ThermoTopC uses 0.4l of fuel per hour. You'd probably only have it on for 30 minutes before you leave, so the extra 0.2l of fuel is easily clawed back by driving off with a warm engine. :)
