MFD2 into OCTY MK1?

Featured Replies

Ok, seeing VRSStu's post of his new MFD3, and not being able to find a spare grand down the back of the sofa, I was wondering how easy it would be to fit the previous version (MFD2) into a mk1 octy (04 plate vrs)?

Is it possible?

Is there a facia adaptor for the mk1? (I noticed that the unit was an odd trapezium shape)

Would I be able to connect to the cd changer AND connect an ipod?

Would I need any additional wiring?

Cheers!

i think that the surround etc is totally different so wont fit without loads of work

Is the original mfd available in 'skoda flavour'?

Anyone seen one available anywhere lately? Ebay drew a blank.

They are available, but they're rare. I got a VW 'G' unit and changed the LED's to green to match the rest of the dash :)

I'm having the same issue, can't find a Skoda MFD for love or money but there are a few MFD2s out there. But, as you have already mentioned, the problem is not the installation of the head unit its the fitting of the facia panel. Let me know if you get anywhere.

Would an MFD2 work in a mk1 (ignoring the shape issue)? I thought it would only work with can bus?
