Milltec IHI turbo back exhaust fitted

Featured Replies

Last weekend I replaced the std d/p. cat and exhaust system on my otherwise std, 53 plate octy vrs.

The new IHI system, d/p and cat is 2.75" spec, and is exclusively supplied by jabbasport.

I opted for the IHI for two reasons, firstly it is the system jabbasport recommend and should compliment the jabba custom remap booked for early Nov. Secondly I wanted an exhaust that sounded nice but not to loud.

The build quality of the system is excellent and came ready to fit, with all clamps etc, the only other thing I needed to get was a new turbo to d/p gasket (The gasket has now been superseded to a pressed steel type.. less than 3 quid from Skoda)

For some strange reason I decided to fit the system at home on my drive insted of driving 10 miles to work and changing it in a fully equiped workshop

The new system is an absolute doddle to fit, the only problem I did have was the down pipe rattled against a heat sheild above the steering rack when the engine was under load. I tried re-shaping the the heat sheild, but in the end resorted to removing the heat sheild completely and securing a non combustable heat reflective material around the steering rack...problem solved.

IMO the twin exit pipes really suit the car, they look fantastic and exit the rear bumper at exactly the right position and height, and give a nice deep burble sound on tick over :D :D :D

On the move the first thing you notice is that the engine torque builds so much stronger than it did before and from much lower down the rev range :D :D :D

I'm really pleased with the result, the car now looks better, goes better and sounds better.......cant wait to see what its like with the remap

Will take some pics at w/end

I'm confused; have you got an IHI turbo? If not how is this an IHI fitment downpipe? The downpipes for the standard turbo and IHI are different.

The turbo is standard.

This is a brand new down pipe and cat made by Milltec, exclusively for Jabbasport.

It is made to 2.75" IHI spec and enables you to connect a 2.75" IHI exhaust system to a standard turbo.

I think I might be one the first to use this set up, as I had to wait for about 6 weeks for it to be made.

It was well worth the wait

Milltec have got it sorted rather well, they have just used my car in Conjunction with Jabba to develop the one for the 4x4 & very nice it is to :D :D

So it's just a 2.75" system then and not an IHI one as you would need a different downpipe for IHI. Just seems confusing calling it an IHI exhaust when it won't fit an IHI.

Hopefully this will clear things up......

Mine was used for the first blueprint 2.75" Milltek and this was at the time specifically for the IHI turbo, in the same way StuartJ's beast was then used for the 4x4 IHI blueprint.

This is going to be the same (cat back) system as mine, StuartJ's and LeeBoy's etc, but it will be mated to the normal MIlltek KO3s 3" downpipe I would've thought.

The exhaust system is an genuine IHI system and will fit an IHI turbo equiped car, but as you rightly say the down pipe would not.

At the end of the day people can call it what they want, I wont let a bit of name calling spoil my enjoyment :D

I just needed an exhaust up front of the remap, this set up was recommended by jabba for my otherwise std car.

This system fitted to a std car is brilliant..........thanx jabba

Well, if youre impressed now, the remap should send you into heaven, lol.

Hope you dont mean that

I think my name might be penciled in for the other place, but at least its nice and warm there

Sounds good, look forward to the pics.

I might be in the market for a new exhaust if I end up switching insurers. Will probably only do half the job and go for a cat back as I don't plan on having any other mods.

I'm getting confused about downpipes and cat-back systems here......

My IHI downpipe is 3", coupled to the 2.75" sports cat back system. That is the FULL 'IHI' system.

There is no reason for them to now be making a smaller IHI system...this is what I can't understand. The objective back in March/April (when it was first designed) was to make something better flowing than any of the old 2.5" Jetex, Milltec etc. systems.

Anyway, it'll be the dogs dangly bits once remapped, make sure you have their (Jabba's) FMIC to get the very best out of the standard turbo, the more the boost, the higher the temperatures.... you should however be touching 245-250bhp!

Best of luck:thumbup:

Thanx for the advice

I plan to run the car remapped for a year or so and then consider upgrading to full IHI spec in 2009.

So may need some guidance soon ;)

Oh man! Just looking at those pics... I want! I apologise if i've missed this, but what are we talking for this exhaust setup? (OPs one) less than a grand, more than 500?

I was contemplating selling the Pocty vRS recently, but the more I read this stuff, and the power I can get, the more I think i'll keep the lovely. FMIC, breathing, remap, 240-250bhp! Aiieeee!

Now I have to drive home and take her to the garage to get that N75 valve replaced, cannot wait to be back to full power!

Oh you will be in for a shock if you do up grade to such a device!! Milltek 2.75" system is indeed very nice and fits well - though I did have to have mine re-hung has it dropped and went lop-sided.
