Blueflame, Milltex, Scorpion Exhaust?

Featured Replies

Looking to change my standard exhaust for something better on my Octy VRS. Only other mod to date is a CAI/ freeflow filter.

I will also be looking for a remap or some other performance hike in the new year.

Considering a cat back system cos I got to be legal!

Can anyone give an opinion on which is the best system out there? Also the best place to get remap or other cost effective power hike

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Why not get a stainless steel system and high flow cat? this is from the turbo back.

The top two on here seem to be Blueflame and Milltek

Mines a blueflame, an excellent cat and system.

I hear the Milltek is also very good.

I have the BlueFlame catback but with a custom downpipe and sports cat for mot time ;)

I don't think it sounds much difference from normal but everyone says it got a nice deep burble and they can hear the car approaching :D

It's probably the downpipe and cat which make it sound a little louder on mine!

I am pondering the same question, and quite like the look of the Jetex turbo downpipe sportscat and system with tailpipe similar to original

Ive got a Milltek system on mine turbo back and mine will pass an MOT no problems.

Same as a full Blueflame system.

Id personally go for what ever system you like the look of as there is little difference between most of them

What sort of remap have you got, where from and how much? Was it worth it?

I've got a turbo back Blue Flame system fitted and I love it. As for power, there isn't a vast improvement over the standard exhaust on a standard car but the turbo spools up so much faster. Its after a remap that an exhaust system really earns its money! 250bhp on mine with a few other bits and pieces. You can't get that with a standard system.

Thxs Ovtavia Vrs!

Can you give me some details of the remap you had and what other "bits and pieces" make a worthwhile difference?

My remap was done by Jabbasport in Perterbrough, went for the custom (rolling road) option which makes all the mods work for you.

As for worthwile difference a high flow air filter or induction kit and an exhaust with a performance cat are the basics to make a remap really make a big difference. (Expect approx 230bhp on a MK1 Vrs)

Next level is to include a front mounted intercooler and a boost controller. With a boost controller the tuning company can push the engine timing advance a little further. (approx 250 BHP) Intercoolers are not a cheap mod tho  .

Anymore and your looking into bigger turbo land. There are other bits and pieces but these are the key performance parts and make the most noticeable gains.

And dont forget a good quality recirculating dump valve - no performance gains but the standard ones dont last long on the cars standard boost levels and even less when running higher boost.

How much was remap and where and how much did you pay for the turbo back exhaust (is it also road legal)?

The remap was about 450 quid but I cant remember exactly, check out Jabbasports website for the latest prices. The exhaust was 550 quid and got it fitted directly at Blue Flames premises in Skelmesdale (M58).

Their systems are road legal and a 100 cell race cat will still pass an MOT. Its only when people completly by-pass the cat that it becomes non legal and this can also decrease the power as the engine requires some back pressure, - just not as much as Skoda choose to give us!
